made my order yesterday. went with a stingray 4 HH, in trans gold, black pickguard, and i went maple. the maple neck is the only thing im double thinking. you know, with all the damn options there are, it hurts your mind.. im sure, you all understand...ive never owned a maple necked bass, but i could feel the difference within the maple and rosewood fretboards. i could somewhat feel that the maple is a bit more of a solid wood, plus to my eyes, it has a better appearance. i just enjoyed looking down at the bright colored frets oppossed to the darker rosewood that im used too. i suppose the maple sounded pretty close to the rosewood, maybe a bit punchier. im down with either is what it comes down to, the order is gonna be "confirmed" tuesday with eb, and maple/rosewood is the only debate still on my mind.. either will be amazing im sure. but im sure ill stick to the maple, afterall, i prefer the feel and look vs the rosewood.

I'm going through the same thing, but I haven't plunked down any money. The color I want (white) seems best with maple, looks wise, and I haven't had a maple board in ages. I always thought of maple as being "glassy?" sounding. I love rosewood, and am used to it (and ebony). Just this time I think I'll try maple for the looks alone. It sounds stupid going for looks, but I'm at the age where I'd rather please myself and be happy with looks on stage (for me) with a bass I know will sound good and be built like a tank. I know once the music starts I won't think twice about the neck. My only concern has been the upkeep on a maple neck. I keep my basses relatively clean, but they do have rosewood, wich hides some gunk. I've been lurking here for a coupla years and I have to admit the addition of the second pup is the selling point for me. BTW, I'm going with a Sterling when I place my order (small hands lol). I do like the SR body, but I'm more comfortable with a 1.5 neck. I've been drooling over the basses here for a long time. P-ducks medallion gold has me thinking twice on my color selection.

P.S. Bovinehost has a closet full of maple- boarded basses!
