That is a piece of clear static cling plastic I put on to protect the finish from some bracelets I dare not take off. Good observation.

Do you find the plastic effects playing the guitar at all? I would want to do this just to protect the finish. Just as long as I know there wouldn't be adverse affects of having the paint covered by plastic for extended periods of time. I'm actually very interested in this so if anyone could chime in it'd be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your Majesty mate! I can't wait to get mine. Have you had other Petruccis in the past? How's this one compare?

I find it has no effect on the PLAYING of the guitar. The wood on the Majesty is absolutely alive. The potential issue is damage to the finish. I used it on one of my Parker's for about six years with no effect to the Poly finish. This Parker was natural mahogany with a poly clear coat. I would remove the film every 4-6 months when I did a thorough cleaning of the guitar. I used two pieces on my JP12, one above the bridge for the wrist and one below the neck pickup as a pick guard. I only had that guitar for six months but there was no indication they were ever there when I removed them. I would not use the film on a nitrocellulose finish although I don't have the technical background to explain why. As I understand it the MM paint is similar t that used on cars which is pretty robust. The Majesty having a semi gloss version of that caused me to question whether I needed one but I had a small piece of the material left and used it. AN OPTION is to buy some of those athletic wrist sweat bands and cover the junk on your wrist with that. It's just a little out of character for me but I do use one when playing my arch top which has a more fragile finish. Hope this helps.
