Hi all, after using a jazz bass for all these years i'm teetering on buying a lovely maple/ash stingray, all I need is a 'you'll never look back/regret' it type comment to sway me (more so my wife :) )

btw the serial is 32227 any way I can check it out (I remember fender had a serial search engine once)

Cheers guys!

Hi Bong69,
I think I lost my previous e-mail I sent you last week; must've pressed the wrong button:( .
I don't want to convince you that MM is better and that you'll never look back. I believe both the Fender Jazz and the MM are excellent basses in their own right.
First off all, the SR is an active bass, the sound is crispy, (very)ballsy, warm, very much on your face and it can be as versatile as your ability as bassplayer can allow. But it doesn't have one thing the Jazz has: That special fender GROWL:cool: . I'm sure a 70's dance song will sound more genuine on the FJ than on the Musicman, and by the same token if you're covering a Chilli Peppers number, you'll be grabbing your SR.
I own an SR4 (with a Seymour Duncan preamp) and also a G&L2500 and always carry both to my gigs.
Oh...and yeah I had to argue my case with my wife to get the second bass:rolleyes:
Cheers
Augusto
