I bought a turqouise pearl Ray with a roasted neck, best looking bass I have ever seen by the way, and noticed that the maple neck seemed to be one piece of wood and did not have a maple fretboard put on it. I will try to put a pic on late if I have time. I guess my question is wether all maple necks are solid with no maple fretboard put on. I have always used rosewood so I am not very familar with maple necks and fretboards.

I love the sound so I am just curious if all the necks are like this or if all the roasted are just one piece necks.

It's 2 pieces, but you can't tell because the fretboard is cut off to put the truss-rod in and then reattached.

Well thanks for the information. I really cannot tell that it is two peices of wood. I guess that just shows the tremendous work that EB does on their guitars.

Music Man cuts the top of the neck blank off and uses it as the fretboard after installing the truss rod. This makes it look like it is still one whole piece when they put it back together. A very nice touch, in my opinion.

Until pics are posted, your bass is fictional. Get to it!

I LOVE that BFR Roasted/Roasted maple neck on Turquoise Pearl! I would immediately pop on a BFR SLO Special or Sterling BFR in that combo!

I watched this video last night and it emphasized the fact even more for me... Ernie Ball / Music Man isn't just a business, it's life for these guys. Sterling isn't a "boss", he's like some sort of carbon based idea machine driven by the things he loves. These types of "behind the scenes" videos just makes me want to sit down and play for hours on end.

I don't know that I'll ever look to another brand when buying basses in the future.

Mynan, thanks so much for posting the video.... I hadn't known about it or seen it before. What an awesome operation. Just to see the heart and pride that is in BP when he is conducting the tour, I could feel his passion for his operation, people, and basses/guitars. Makes me glad to know that such care is being taking when my Sterling is being "born". John
