Hello all,
first post as I just received my first EBMM. I went for the Galaxy Pearl Mariposa, love the looks, the weight (its like 6.5lbs).
I ordered it from Guitar Center online, and received it yesterday. The box had clearly never been opened since shipping out of EB warehouse (unless GC reboxed it?)
Anyway, the quality is rather poor (not here to upset folks) and I saw some other posts about quality issues on this forum too (maybe not many).
opening getting the guitar out of the case, I immediately noticed the pearl tuner on the b string was cracked in a few pieces, not really sure how its staying on, it felt like it would twist clean off if forced a bit.
the pickguard does not lay flat at all, rather annoying, and feels cheap.'
Of course GC says its EB fault, EB says its GC fault. whatever, that silliness is expected.
Nothing that cant be fixed it what I started out saying to myself. But then again, 3k for a guitar, I should expect some level of perfection.
But was playing it last night, and noticed there's some weird buzzing/vibration happening in the body cavity too. It's not the trem springs, I checked.

FYI - I have a few USA made Jacksons and Suhrs, technically, this is the cheapest guitar I have purchased in years, not bragging, just setting the expectation that I have a personal standard for USA made guitars.

Any other Mariposa owners out there? same experience? etc? I just get a lemon or something?

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

Every brand has 1% or 2% return rate (not just guitars, pretty much everything) and that's what warranties are for. In the US, Music Man has a 90 day warranty and Guitar Center also has a 45 day return policy, so there is no reason for them to ignore you. I would call Music Man customer service and talk to them directly. Replacing a tuner button and pickguard is quick ans easy, this should not be a problem.

yeah - I guess I wasn't clear enough. Never said nobody was helping me. EBMM offered to send out the parts, and GC will definitely take me return.
I just wanted to know if other Mariposa owners had the same issue. Curiosity if this is common, or just par for EBMM products.
Its definitely going to be returned, I shouldn't have to fix anything right out of the box, and likely will never buy EBMM again. not an attack on anyone, I know how the internet gets butt hurt, lol
like I said, curiosity about the brand more than anything

I had to have my Axis serviced shortly after I bought it from GC. I just contacted EBMM customer service directly, and they took care of me. They'll even coordinate having your guitar picked up - the only bit I had to pay was part of the shipping ($35 or something, I think). I had them alter the setup to my tastes when there as well.

Oh, and as you're new to the forum - pics of the guitar or it didn't happen.

Just echoing the others, for sanity I'd try an exchange first before even getting into warranty. GC should swap the guitar for you in one of their stores (or ship-in, ship-out arrangement). If that fails or isn't practical for some reason, then I'd go down the warranty path. The guys and girls at EBMM are very friendly and thoughtful. Someone will give a damn and make it right for you, that's the nice thing about avoiding giant conglomerates.

As food for thought - sometimes customer returns get commingled into new inventory at big box stores/warehouses. You might've gotten something someone else banged up or got creative with internally at GC. Make them make it right first. The issues you're describing don't sound like something that would've left SLO.

You're making a decision not to buy an EBMM guitar ever again based on a sample size of 1?

Sounds statistically valid to me.

Thread is locked. I should have locked it earlier. I was afraid it was going to go this direction the first time you mentioned "butt-hurt" and i was right. And as you got the reaction you so wanted and choose to no longer be a member of the Music Man owners family, I will close your forum account for you.

Merry Christmas and best wishes to you for the future.
