Hi everyone....I got a pretty good deal on an Eden 4-10 xlt 4 ohm cabinet which is rated at 700w RMS. Im wondering if I can run an LMT800 (800w @ 4ohms). I just dont want to damage the cabinet, and dont quite understand the power/ohm specs. If not the LMT800, what kind of specs on an amp should I be looking for. Thanks as always.

I wouldn't worry too much about running this cab with this head. It's a pretty close match.

The LMT800 is capable of driving a 4 ohm load at 800 watts (or an 8 ohm load at 500 watts).
Your cab is is a 4 ohm cab, but only capable of 700 watts.

So in theory your amp is capable of overpowering your cab. However, there is a difference between theory and practice. Assuming everying is in good operating condition, the only way you would actually damage your cab is if you dime all the controls on the amp and start pounding hard on the bass. If you don't drive things that hard, they it is unlikely you will run into a problem. If you don't normally have to crank your amp beyond 75% or so, then I wouldn't even think about it.

if the signal is clean (no distortion) most speakers can take more than they are rated for..
i would rather be worried if the amp is too small to keep clipping from happening

but then again, its just an internet opinion.. treat it as such

That cab should work great with that head. Just be careful not to boost the lows too much, and watch the master too. You will be able to hear if you're overdriving that cab, but I wouldn't be too worried.

You can safely run that cab with up to around 1000-1200 watts if you really wanted to. Having more headroom than you need is far safer than running an amp maxed on "10".

Short answer - the LMT800 is not too much power for a 700w RMS cab.
