It's an enigma to me why certain people don't like Matching Headstocks... ??

Though I agree, it's definitely not a necessity to create a really great looking guitar...

I do find that when a headstock is the same finish as the body..., it moves the guitar into the category of art! So why is this a wimpy look to some of ya

Come-on, dukes up dudes... :p

Tell us why ya don't like da headstock correlation...

Give us da lowdown would ya...??

Explain yer-self...

I like the clean look of an all-maple fretboard and headstock. With a rosewood fretboard and a darker body color the matching headstock just looks better to my eyes. The lighter headstock just doesn't do it for me when the rest of the guitar is all dark. The Petrucci is the perfect example, and I've only seen a few that have non-matching headstock but every time I do they just look... off.

My Silo, Axis, and Axis SS are all maple fretboards with natural headstocks. The 20th Silo I ordered has rosewood with matching headstock.

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago, and this seemed to be the general consensus.

This topic has been covered before on the forum...

In essence it all comes down to personal taste.

Personally I like rosewood fretboarded guitars like the Luke to have a matching headstock otherwise you end up with three colour combinations on your guitar (body, fretboard, headstock) which to me is a little too much. Although if the chosen colour is a little wild (medallian gold etc) I might go with a natural...

With maple fretboards it depends on the guitar but I also prefer Axis's with matching...

Matching or non-matching take your pick, either way you can't lose

Matching headstock is my choice. Especially if you have a rosewood neck. Especially, the JP model. With the body color, rosewood neck and non-matching headstock on a JP model, it just doesn't look right to me.........personal opinion of course. I'd take a non-matching headstock, if the guitar had a maple neck.

yep it's a matter of taste. All my EBMM are matching exept the Luke DD on order . I think the combination of natural with DD finish is just perfect

I was thinking the other that if for some reason the neck of my Burnt Apple Silo is damaged, I will have to replace it with a non matching headstock cause the color is discontinued.

I like matching headstocks on maple fingerboard ebmms, and natural on rosewood board ebmms.

The only exception: black guitars with rosewood boards, they should have a matching head.

Depends on the color. I like the non matching on my Luke. The RW axis diesn't count..LOL

When I get a Silo I want white w/matching and maple board. That looks cool as hell.

As do the bursted headstocks.

What was the question again?

I love the natural head on my AL which has a maple neck. It's not a rule that a maple should have a natural head but that seems to be the case if you took a head count (pun not intended) on the forum. However from the answers above you can see that a minority like the matching head with the maple. If you want to order a new guitar you can get what YOU want and sod the rest!!

Now if I were to get a LEAL witha rosewood neck then the matching head would be ok with me. ;)

It's all down to personal taste, and everyone is different.

On dark colours I prefer a natural headstock, lighter ones with matching.

I chose a natural headstock for my Dargie Pet, looking forward to seeing what that combo looks like.
