I just went to GuitarCenter.com and found a little banner advert saying Mesa Boogie is available online...

The only heads available are Triple and Dual Recs and the Roadster, but it's a start! I'm going to look at what combos they have right now...

Yeah I saw that last week. Neato, considering until recently they've been dealing exclusively with smaller dealers.

But looking into a Mesa? Says the man with the Bogner Uberschall

But looking into a Mesa? Says the man with the Bogner Uberschall

Don't get me wrong, the Uber is a beastly amp. More gain than anyone would ever really *need* to have. But it's kind of a one-trick-pony. It does ultra high-gain better than just about every other amp out there (a couple exceptions), but it just doesn't have the tonal range I need recently.

So yeah, I'm looking into Mesa (Mark V as soon as I can demo one). The Uber will get transferred to do re-amping duties in my studio when I find what I'm looking for. It may not even be a Mesa, but the Mark V has me really intrigued. The few demos I've found made it really appealing to me.

The other option is a Bogner Ecstasy. The advantage here is that it would fit in the road/rack case I had made for the Uber.

The other option is ridding myself of a tube amp completely. I did just get my Axe-FX Ultra and I've got it up and running. I just need to take the time to program the sounds I want. Though I got it as a studio tool.

I'm like fingbeagles when it comes to my guitar rig. The Uber served me well for a few years when I was playing death/hardcore/metalcore. I'm beyond that now. I need something with a way smoother tone and and better harmonic response.

This may be a little off topic (bordering on a thread highjack), but have you ever test driven any Rivera's ????

I have. I liked the K-Tre, but that was at the time I got the Uber. And I'm looking for something with more than 2 channels. They have one with 3 or more channels now?

I don't think they offer anything with 3 channels, from what I see most (or all) of their units are 2 channel.

The Mick Thompson signature KR-7 amp is a three channel unit.

Rivera: The Definition of Tone

It looks interesting, I would love to hear one in the flesh but I've got about Buckley's chance of that happening without throwing down the dosh to get one out here. No music shop in their right mind would carry of those bad boys on their shelf..... :)

Whymsical, thanks so much for the link. I had missed that completely. There is also the KR 55 that is a 3-channel combo amp:

Rivera: The Definition of Tone

Too bad you don't have one near your to try out, I am sure you will like them. I haven't tried alot of amps, but thus far I love the tone of my Rivera Chubster and haven't really needed to look at any others......

I gotta resurrect this thread. Seems like Mesa is finally seeing the light and opening up to online sales in the US.

Sweetwater is now a Mesa/Boogie dealer also. I'll be headed up to their showroom on August 1 for some demos of gear for my studio so I hope they have a ton of amps for me to check out.

Now if only they would become a Music Man dealer...maybe I can persuade someone up there with my BFRs...

It might be worthwhile to check out some of the VHT amps as well.

The brand name changed. They're Fryette amps now. I tried a few and they're good amps. It's been a while, though. Not sure where they fit into my desires...

In my search I have a few must-have features:

1. Amplifier must have at least 3 channels.
2. Effects loop must be truly serial
3. Switching must be possible from my G-System.

Off the top of my head, the Sig:X sounds like what you want. I'm fairly certain it has everything you're asking for.
And yeah, I know they're called Freyette now, but it's going to take some getting used to. VHT is moar br00tal.

VHT does sound more brutal, lol. I'll have to find a Fryette dealer near me so I can try them out again. It's been a while since I went amp shopping and that time I was looking for one thing only (super high gain). I ended up with an Uberschall that time, but the Pitbull Ultra-Lead was a close second.

Yeah man, Boogie has had some SERIOUS MIDI switching problems with other brands.

Headache!

Makes me want to simplify my rig!

The thing I like about the newer boogies is the 1/4" switching options. All of the functions I need are switchable by 1/4" which is directly compatible with my G-System.

Kinda of in keeping with this - a while ago they were offering the F50 combo at a very low price - might be worth tapping them up if anybody is interested.

Some smaller dealers are doing it, too. I'd rather deal with these guys:
Music Power

they were the First online Boogie Dealer in the US, and have great customer service. They also have a shop in the San Diego Area that I visit. They're a single location privately owned business that just know what's up. They're also a EBMM dealer, but usually just have the Basses.
