I'm thinking of buying this amp for my balls (One Albert Lee MM90, one Axis Super Sport and soon a Silo Special). Anyone have experience with those amps? I'm after a great clean tube sound, vintage style, but would also like to be able to crank the distortion up.

I've tried 5:50 2x12 combo for a good hour recently with my Silo Special. Clean was absolutely great, I loved it. Good reverb too. But I was really disappointed with the dirty channel. Really harsh and non musical distortion, too much high end fizz and buzz to my liking

Funny you mention that - I was just thinking about that amp!!

I haven't tried it out yet, but I don't anticipate buying one at this point. I'm looking toward the new MK coming out.

However, the factory is just "up the road" as it were, so maybe I'll drop by (once again!), and see what's cookin'.

I have one... I have the 2x12 version, and I like it very, very much... It has great clean sounds in the 50 watts, and you can really crank it up if you switch it to 5 watts...

I think it complements the MM90-pickups very well (Can't get enough of those MM90's!! You gotta love 'm!! :D), also my Silo Special sounds great through it.

I also have a Fender Deville 410, great amp, but I think the Mesa just sounds way better. The Fender's clean channel is pretty thin sounding, and you really need to turn it up loud (LOUD!!) to get a good overdriven sound (using the overdrive channel on the Deville is not an option... It's no good!) With the Mesa switched to 5 Watts, you can get great, bluesy, overdriven sounds at low volumes...

I use a Fulldrive2 pedal with it (amongst others), and it really rocks! I don't use the ultra-heavy distortion very often, but, to me, it sounds OK.

With the 50 - 5 switch and the two different overdrive switches per channel, I think it does a great job, very versatile...

But, as always: make sure you try one before you buy it!
