as with the guitar i get the amp will be a blind buy as well. im looking for feedback on the best mesa combo to fit my needs witch is lots of van halen play and satriani. im a pedal guy so wouldnt i want an amp with a great clean chanel and an FX loop? also any other suggestions are welcome. with all the stuff out these days it gets overwhelming. the guitar will be an axis.

i will be an at home player so i dont need a 100 watt amp. looking for a decent combo at about 1200 or less -please. thanks.

Why Mesa Boogie at all? I just switched my Mesa Mark V for a Diezel Einstein, the Clean is much better plus the 3 modes in the Cleanchannel are imho better then the modes on the Mark V f.e..

Over the years I played my fair share of Boogies but never got overexcited with them.

What kind of clean are you looking for? Warm or crystal clear?

you could try the peavey jsx joe satriani model its a 2 12 combo or if you want to spend a little more the marshall jvm combo , I believe satriani is using marshall jvms now anyway and it also can get some good van halen tones out of it its a great amp.
If you are going to use all pedals a fender twin amp would work good too cause it has a great clean channel. I use a crate palomino and a bunch of pedals the crate has a great clean channel and it wasn't too expensive.

If you like Mesa, the Lonestar Special 1x12 is good. I am a big fan of THD Univalve also.

Way under your price point, but the Blackstar HT stage series are pretty awesome. Great clean and drive sounds, and really good usable loops (can be set for line level or pedals). It also has a pretty cool eq sweep knob that sorta changes the tonal characteristic from a Marshall-esque looser bassy middy sound, to a Boogie-esque really tight low end.

Take a look at the Egnater Rebel 30. Might be just what you're looking for. Sounds way better than any Boogie I've owned.

I tried a Mesa Boogie Express, and I must say, I was terribly disappointed. It's like the amp had sound, but no tone.

I realised my Fender Princeton Reverb had the best tone at 15 watts, except it has only 1 channel. No matter then. I guess I'll just use a pedal.

I do want a Blues Junior now though...

But oh yes, check out the Blackstar HT series. Absolute killer. Especially the HT20!

funny you mentioned blackstar. i see thay have come out with the HT-20 studio and the HT-40 club. those seem cool to. i used to look at the HT-5 when it first came out. the Peavey 6505+ 112 Combo looks good too but may have too much power for at home play.

The 40 watter sounds good at home volumes and is also very very giggable... I suppose the same could be said of the 20, but the 40 has more clean headroom for you.

nice. i wasnt sure if they would have the same sound. the price is nice on the amp as well. the Peavey 6505+ 112 Combo might be abit too much. i like how the 40 has the good cleans because im a pedal guy. i hear the overdrive is amazing.
