Hey, where can I find Mesa Boogies? I've been looking but can't find a place that sells and has prices listed. I'm interested in a combo Lonestar 1x12. Thanks.
 
Guitar Center has them out here by me. If you have a local one, they should be able to help you out. :cool:

I had a Lonestar 112 Combo for the last 10 months. An excellent amp, but not much more than a "one trick pony." Mine also had tube rattle at rather low volumes. If you play a JP, it won't cover everything the guitar is capable of. The gain stages are very low. Its an excellent amp for Strats. I also had an F-100 combo, which is great too, but I'm much happier with my JSX Combo. The F-100 "popped" when changing channels and the cleans weren't as great as the JSX. The JSX does everything I'm looking for in one amp. Good luck shopping, but unless you only play blues/roots rock don't expect much more from the Lonestar. Even a Wylde Overdrive didn't hake it scream that much. MESA's are awesome, but you do pay for the name.
 
Actually, the lonestars are quite versatile.

it's merely a matter of learning how to use it properly and dial it in, it's not a big over the top overdrive amp, but given the right settings, it can rock with the best of them.

start the lonestar in the od channel, gain all the way, master at 2 and all the eq down. no sound, then turn up accordingly, it's incredible the diverse tones you get.

plus the variac built into the power switch. awesome.

i'd buy a 2x12 if i could afford it, but alas...

Thanks for the input guys. I do want something versatile and from what I'm hearing and reading, I'm not sure the Lonestar will cut it. People keep telling me to go with the Rectifier but that a bit too much. Someone also suggested the F50. I've also been told for the money a Carvin Legacy is the way to go. I was considering a Peavey 5150 or XXX. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I need to take a break.
 
Ok, here is one for you guys, casters or no casters. Somebody told me caster are not good on a tube amp. They said it shortens their life by being rattled while rolling the amp around. :confused: So , why do they makes tube amps with casters? What are your opinions? Have you ever heard this? I would like casters because some of these boxes weigh a ton. Now on the ones that don't bring casters, is it easy to put casters on them?

I had a Carvin Legacy for several years- I got it in '99, shortly after they came out, and just sold it a few months ago. I'm really not a conoisseur of amps, but I was pretty happy with it. I thought it sounded real good at high volumes, but I didn't have too many occasions to play loud. Not a real heavy metal amp, but it had nice sustain and warm distortion when cranked.

what kind of sound are you after?

if you need over the top, the rectifier will do it better than any.

if you want a nice meaty OD and a pretty crisp clean, a single rectifier "rect-o-verb" will make you love life.

I personally think the 2x12 rectoverb combo is the most versatile boogie amp available right now.

I sell them at my shop, if you are interested I can set you up, right now if you order a boogie amp, you can change the cover (tolex/leather stuff) free.

I just ordered a half stack in orange tolex for a customer.

Hey francric, I just checked out some Peavey's yesturday. I tried the XXL, which is pretty damn awesome. It has a lot of features to mess around with. The other I tried was a B52 which was ok. And than I tried the JSX, however it was the head. But this was freakin COOL. I might def get the JSX combo. But I have not had enough time with it. I didnt see any reverb or anything. I am a big fan of reverb. However I think the foot switch made the dialing in stuff more complex. Anyway, I think the XXL is pretty damn good.
 
I also have been debating between the XXX and JSX. You get alot for the price but I'm intrigue by the Rectoverb now. I've done a little research and it sounds pretty good. I pm'd Disquieter to call me so I can ask more questions. I have to admit that everybody I talk to has nothing but good things to say about Mesa.
