Probably my next amp. I'm not a pro on it yet..which is why I recomend reading up on the mesa forums. But I've read that It takes a long time to get use to dialing it in and finding out what it can really do.

The Boogie Board :: Index Hope everything goes well the MkIV is a great amp.

You cannot rack mount the long chassis. Otherwise it's the same thing.

Get one...I love my Mark IV.

I have one. Best amp IMO. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

The difference between short and medium head is that the medium has a few more switches on the front panel (instead of the back panel as on the short head). As mentioned, you can rackmount the short head if you choose to go that way. I think the medium head looks much cooler on top of a 4x12 than the short though.

I have a few videos up on youtube in case you wanna watch some demos from a mortal recorded with a low quality mic.

Edit: Some direct links to the videos to make it easier. Some JP stuff. No boost used. The only thing other than the Mark IV used was a delay preset on the leads.

I really enjoy the sound of the Mark IV, especially from Metallica and John Petrucci, but I've never played one. I'm also interested to know if they can get those 'tallica and JP tones on their own, or do they require extensive processing?

They can get these tones to some degree,

but the earlier Metallica and DT stuff was recorded with MKIIc+ heads, these are more sought after amps and are now out of production

These amps were just normal MKII's which have been sent to Mike B. at Boogie to be upgraded to the C+

these are alot smoother amps, but still aggressive

The MKIV is a wonderful amp, still smooth and very very versitile,if anybody is a DT fan,the new album was recorded with a MKIV (Well about 88% of it anyways).

The amp is 85 Watts......of Mesa power which is always wayyyy too much anyways

the amp has power amp voicing capabilities where you can further tune your output stage to your spec./taste Triode,Pentode ,class A and Simul-class

3 Channels and a graphic(which is VERY handy)

also has an effects loop and a silent recording function

overall a great amp

Im a Mesa Fiend and have tried all of their amps, really is one of the best

just for the record.....I use rectifiers :)
