Mesa Walkabout (correction)

Fellow MM lovers,

Situation: Hartke Kickback 12 combo giving problems again - perhaps has had it's last chance, I have to have reliabilty.

Problem: Due to shoulder problems cannot afford to be lugging around combo weighing in at 96lbs anymore - I have done the Peavey TNT and T-Max combo's in the past.

Resolution: Separate head and cab. Might prove outside my budget but I have to consider instead of combo.

Option: I have come across on the Mesa site the 300w Walkabout head. Looks to be just what I need and only 13lbs in weight.

Feedback: Anyone have/had/used/abused one of these and care to comment on pros and cons

Thanks: Issued in ancticipation of assistance.

Liam

I am waiting to actually see a Scout myself. Musicians Friend has an Ampeg PBC2112 1X12 combo on clearance that is 250 watts and pretty light...along the same lines as what the Scout is supposed to be.

I have no idea how either one sounds though since I've only seen the Ampeg 1X10 portabass cab in person (and it was really light).

For $599 (with free shipping), it might be worth a shot-if it is not to your liking, you can return it.

Just found a review of the Mesa Walkabout together with comparisons with the Ampeg version, The Eden and the EA.

Only thing is - the price in GBP for the UK was £1059 for the Mesa Walkabout head. At USD$1.80 to the pound, that equals USD$1,900. I would be surprised if they are charging that Stateside for it???

Back to the drawing board again!!!
