Please don't. Let it grow so your grandkids can enjoy it. Old growth trees are getting hard to find and many are now protected. Big leaf maple is protected in many states.

I'm not a tree hugger, but knocking down a tree like that for little more than a few pounds of burl that may or may not be there is just wrong.
