MIDI Foor Controller Help

I just got an extra MIDI foot controller from my friend and I would like to use it with my amp

I have an amp that has a standard 5-pin MIDI In... and the foot controller uses a 7-pin MIDI connection and can only be powered through phantom power with the MIDI cable (explains why it uses a 7-pin)

Is there anyway for me to use this foot controller? Maybe I can get a 5 pin to 7 pin converter and then supply the power with an AC adapter somehow? Or are there other ways to make this work?

I use one of these :

NEW ROCKTRON MIDI CABLE 5 TO 7 PIN - eBay (item 280212412294 end time Aug-23-08 10:28:56 PDT)

You'll need the power adapter to plug into the AMP end of the cable (it's a Y cable - one side is 5-pin MIDI and the other is to plug the power into).

Just get the right power supply, and maybe an adaptor tip for the power - and you're away. It feeds pins 6 & 7 at the other end.

Hasn't your MIDI controller got an additional power input too ?
