A couple of tunes from our New Year's Eve gig. One thing I am especially proud of is that three band members (drummer, piano, and MissNick) are 21 or under. Having the younger generation absolutely slaying old-school material is especially pleasing to me as a band leader.

First up is a swinging version of Stormy Monday, done Lou Rawls-style. Tired of the Allman version? Try it this way. The gentleman in the pics is the sax player, who also provides vocals.

Next is Soul Man. This is a harder tune to pull off than it sounds - everyone has to be firing together to keep the groove alive. This is one of the better recordings I've pulled off. The pics are of the singer, who had a career in a Blues Brothers tribute act. Can you tell?

Enjoy!

Nice!

I used to play Soul Man and you're right that you can mess it up in a hurry if you don't keep it clean.
