Well, Nikki's applying to USC's Popular Music Program <gulp>, and they require some videos during the application process.

I have never recorded any of these play-along videos before, so I finally sat down and figured out how to accomplish this. I have a Macbook Pro, and used only iMovie and Garageband. I plugged her straight into GB, and since they have no bass amp models, I used a clean guitar amp. She set her controls on the Big Al for the tone she wanted. I then imported the recorded audio into iMovie, and manually synced the audio and video. Not as hard as it seems, just a lot of trial and error.

The application process has been quite hectic, I think she would love some positive comments from the EBMM community.

First up is Joe Osborn's classic line from "Let The Sunshine In". Believe it or not, she is reading this line from the chart in this month's Bass Player magazine.

Here's the John Mayer tune "Vultures", featuring a groovy line from Pino:

And here's the classic line from "Dock Of The Bay":

Enjoy!

I only can watch the third video (due to copyright restrictions in Germany) and she sounds fantastic! Very tight and focused yet warm tone! And she plays it very well, too - good timing!

Oh yes, ...she's got the talent!

Let the sunshine in - I like the best, ...what's that pickup combination on the BA? All buttons up?

Thank you so much everyone!! This process has been rather grueling, and these comments really do mean a lot. Let's hope the staff at USC agrees!!

LawDaddy suggested I respond in German, so here it goes: Danke schön!! Ich wünsche mir, dass du die anderen sehen konntest. (I really hope that made some sort of sense... It's been a while since my last German class)

As for the tone, I don't consider it my best, but I always have the buttons all down, with the highs a little up and the lows a little down in the mix. And no, no flatwounds on the Al-- I like the sound of roundwounds better. (Sorry LawDaddy : P)

That's seriously awesome. Makes me want to learn that Joe Osborn part. The fact that she's sight reading it is really impressive. And the Big Al sounds great, of course, even with rounds. :)

Thanks guys!! The comments really give me more confidence :) I have a bit more hope that I'll get in (or at least get a live audition--the next phase in the application process).
