Hi,
Last night I opened up my control cavity and this uncovered solid core ground wire was attached to something, but I didn't see what it was attached to. Now, I have a nasty hum!

Can anyone help by telling me what this was attached to so I can fix it?

I greatly appreciate the guidance.

thanks!

It's there to ground the cover. It hangs over the edge of the body, making contact with the cover when you put it back on. You'll see a spot on the cover without paint- that's roughly where it goes.

Thank you for such a quick response!

I was able to see the paint-free spot and put the wire on the edge of the body when I put the cover back on. I assume this just presses into the edge right next to the screw hole. I am still getting a bit of buzz, but it's better. I won't worry too much about it.

Perfect.

The cavity has shielded paint, so adding the grounded cover completes the cavity shielding. There will always be some stray noise from the pickups, but every little bit helps.
