I don´t know the expression shelf nut, but the F is intonating right with the earvana

By shelf nut, I mean the nut comes over the fingerboard. It's a way to get the contact point closer to the bridge if your nut slot is routed stock.

It's not a shelf nut, and it "compensates" for the increase in string tension when fretting - most notably in the lower fret range.

The EB comp nut does the job and is a lovely looking nut.

I have the Earvana nut too and it does a good job but doesn't look as nice.
I like the fact that the Earvana is a two piece nut and if you knacker it by over zealous filing, then you can unscrew the top bit and get a replacement.

I go nutz for both nuts !

There was a major glitch problem over on TGP...
They lost all which was posted after 11/14 until 11/24...
so that particular thread on compensated nuts started by John Suhr,
does not exist anymore..
