From MM JP owners/users that also own or at least have played a Parker Fly in any of it's main variations, Classic, Deluxe, Supreme, Mojo or Artist, any thoughts about how these two brands/models compare regarding tone, resonance, sustain, neck thickness, body profile, weight, playability, piezo and tremolo performance, string action, etc?
I guess that for instance, on the weight department, and body and neck thickness, and of course, it's cool body shape, the parker fly wins the contest, although it might be arguable.

I just like how you said "of course" like it's a given that it's visually appealing.

By the way...it's not a contest. The Guitar maker vs guitar maker discussion doesn't usually "Fly" on this forum.

*Sigh, another versus thread. That word should be banned.

From what I have gathered, trying Parkers before (don't know which one; it was listed for like 2400$)
-They are super, ridiculously light. Must have been max. 2.5kgs
-Beautiful Resonance unplugged
-Plugged in, I felt it lost a bit of that resonance, as odd as it was. It seemed nicer NOT plugged in
-Headstock is crazy weird. Kinda like a Blackmachine.
-Upper horn seemed weirdly placed when I was playing it.

As for Petrucci models, these are my feelings
-I prefer them to Parkers in every way, including looks.

There's my .02

i think this question would be best asked elsewhere...

i have played the Parkers and i remember when they first came out and i just had to play one... i was so let down. I didn't care for it plugged in at all and just felt weird.

the first time i played a JP i was like WHAO!!!! This is sooo easy to play... balance, tone, feel... just nailed it.

so im gonna toss out another vote for the EBMM JP(x) hands down.

I just dont understand why questions like this are asked on the EBMM Forum. Though I never played a Parker I am not into them at all. A question like this has to be asked on Harmony Central or The Gear Page as the are neutral sites and you can expect a fairly fair reply.

I heard that one, man.

EBMM's are by and large pretty different from most guitars out there, i think. It's not like doing a comparo between a PRS Singlecut or a Les Paul, or between an Ibanez RG and a Jackson Dinky.

Most Vs. threads that come up on here really can't be discussed at length because most of the time it's an apples to oranges type of thing.

I like the Parker. It pushed the design of the guitar forward and had some really nice innovative touches.

The JP is a great guitar as well, some good touches and from what I hear, really great to play.

Try both and see what works for you.

Wow, JPs are the best guitars ever built, you're stupid girlie Parkers have no place on this forums because as stated previously, versus threads are highly discouraged on these forums, especially if the opinions on the OP go against EBMM  and don't you dare insult Mr. Petrucci, because if you do, then he will kill you with his 1000000 notes per second.
You have been warned.

Have fun :D

Upper horn of parker consistenly jabbed me in the ribs/sternum when i played sitting down... was not a fan. For me, both comfort and tone - EBMM kills.
I had a Mojo some years ago and then a JP6. That upper horn I couldn't deal with jabbing me in the gut. The neck is very thin and caused some cramping in my hands. I moved to the JP6 and it has a much fuller tone. The Mojo seemed sterile in comparison. Alas the thin neck of the JP6 was also uncomfortable for me (thought meatier than the Mojo). So I remembered an EVH I had years before and loved the neck, but wasn't sure about the going to the 1 5/8's nut width. Bought an Axis an haven't looked back. All of my G, F, & H branded guitars are gone as I've realized what I like in a guitar with feel first and then tone.

The Mojo was a nice neck-through guitar that had a ton of sounds, but nothing that was jaw dropping or memorable (very generic). The SS frets were great and I had no issues with them coming un-glued as others have reported. If you can live with the ultra thin neck and that's what you want, give it a try. IMO, the JP is a much more useable guitar with tone (Piezo and HB) and it just feels better than the Mojo. YMMV.

OK Let me chime in. Ken Parker did a great job trying to move the guitar forward. I have one. Actually I gave it to my son. It is an electric nylon string.

Lets me a little less predictable in our responses. THe questioner has to know that he is asking for the ebmm point. Thats why he is here.

The "vs" is something that I dont like because in is disrespectful to either one. It isnt a boxing match . You are usually talking about two very qualified choices.

Really it comes down to a personal preference. Play both . Play them on a gig and then see which one rings your bell

I have had a desire to own a Parker in the past and can tell you that as a technogeek I have been interested in the stuff they are doing with carbon. I like the carbon epoxy ss fret necks on them. And to boot, the piezo bridge (which I still lack in my collection).

So, you might ask, why don't I own one?

Predominantly the answer is because I think they're fugly and I can get the job done just as well with other equipment. I urge you to play a ball - it's clear to me that you're a Parker fan but also clear that you're seeing what else in the market can fit your needs - the neck on the EBMM guitars I have played BEG to be played. It's like a disease. Seriously - I urge you to see.

You're right, Poppa. I guess I'm just cynical because of the VS threads we've seen lately.

As far as Parker guitars go, they are wonderful instruments. I've had the pleasure of playing a few and they were very comfortable, light, and extremely ergonomic. I actually kinda like the looks of them, too. Sort of futuristic.

I also love my EBMM guitars. The tone and feel is where EBMM gets it every time. The tonal options seem nearly limitless. There is a lot of versatility in the EBMM line. The feel is the best in the business. Very comfortable guitars which are nearly effortless to play. I also feel like I'm part of a "family" of sorts. It's a relationship I've never had with another brand.

That being said, I don't think comparisons between different brands, and sometimes even different models is fair. Each instrument is its own animal.

A good ribeye is proof of intelligent design. Cow wins.

I'm guessing something along the lines of "Damn I'm thirsty." A somewhat more serious answer is probably a combination of thrist and seeing a baby cow nursing.
