So last night me n Tiffs made a lil detour at Tower Records before meeting up with James and Bass-ic at the jam. Tower's going out of business so everything's on sale... a week ago all the horror DVDs were 30% off so i thought id go clean em out. Turns out they "raised" the prices to only 20% off (i have no idea what kind of going out of business sale raises liquidation prices). either way there was nothing there for me - i have a lot of horror movies
anywho... back on track (wow - i hijacked myself)....
so i went to the music DVD section and saw the DVD "The Refused are F****ing Dead". They're a dope punk band and about 7 years ago they released an album called "The Shape of Punk to Come". Initially i refused to buy that album cuz of the title (no pun intended)... i was thinking "who the hell do you think you are?" So i kinda ignored the album's existence for about a year.
BUT then i saw [nomedia="http://youtube.com/watch?v=BrUyk7JjHbM"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]. So the video starts off strange: there's dude's in rabbit suits and these weird Intel bunny looking dudes running around some factory. behind all this is a really cool guitar buildup. 45 seconds into it the buildup is replaced by some wierd techno stuff.. and then it hits and its dope. and 1 minute 18 seconds in the singer, out of nowhere, says "wooo" and at that moment i thought "hmmm, maybe they're onto something". They proceed to kick ass and beat the crap out of their instruments then toward the end theyre all wearing zombie costumes and beating their instruments more... its the best video ive ever seen. indeed, it may be the shape of punk to come.
ok... back on track for the second time: I got the DVD and watched about 15 minutes of it last night and the bassist was playing a natural SR4 =)
