Hey folks,

Just trying to learn and gather a little more info. as Im attempting to downsize my rig a bit and save some $$ along the way.

I'm playing 99% of the time at church now and looking at possibly going all DI with no backline. We use IEM's.

Im looking at picking up a Sadowsky Outboard to work with a passive jazz of mine and wondered how these pair up with the Stingrays. Im more interested in the DI aspect over the preamp section but am a tweeker so tempted to play a bit and change the color at times. Will this work being the Ray is active? .. I guess for me in my mind its similar to running through the preamp section/di of my Shuttle 6.0...only this would be on the floor. Is this the basic idea?

The bass in question is a new Classic Ray with a 2 band preamp.

Thanks

i have one of those di/pres as well. it will be wonderful on the passive bass and it will be a fine di for your stingray, but using the preamp / eq on the stingray will quickly turn your tone to mush. all thats needed for the stingray is a bump up to line level without any other trickery.

While I am sure the Sad is a brilliant box, I would suggest the Radial BassBone, where you have two channels and can use the tone controls on the second channel to spice up the passive Jazz. A real killer di too:)

I rarely use mine as a DI, but I do use it as a tone shaper with my passive basses. It's great for that, but I never use it with my Bongo, which needs no help. :)

I def. dont need it....nor do many of us need more of anything really...:D Im actually trying to get away from my backline at church ...which ive since been told by our WL to keep cus he likes it... The sounds guys have been grumbling a bit about the stage volume being too much. I told em to trash the drums and electric geetar 1st.

Anyways Ive got one on the way and shall see and comment for those interested.
