I'm still trying to figure out what looks best on my Sub1. I want to change the pickguard and knobs. Unfortunaly, i didnt find the "Ice" pickguard material, so i'll have to go with black or white pearl. Since i still cant decide what looks best i figured out the best way too find out is by asking the MusicMan experts on this forum. ;)

Please vote for one of the options, or else specify what you think that will look best on my black MM Sub1 guitar. The pickup will be replaced, so it will either be white for a white pickguard or black for a black pickguard.

Thanks! :)

I prefer the stock appearance to any of the above choices.

+1

I'd maybe prefer a darker pickguard, but I don't really see the point in spending cash on something so irrelevant. I'd rather get more cash and add a neck pickup. (but then, that includes a new pickguard, too) Do all SUB1's have the same routing (so you can add a pickup)?

I want to replace the bridge pick-up and i want to add a neck pickup. Routing is the same (HH) on all Sub1's.

Pickguard is gonna be replaced anyway ;)

Here's a thought

I'd put on a Black Pearl guard in HH config, cause the pup is black, and then I'd use black metal knobs with the set-screw. At the same time I would add a nice DiMarzio neck pup of your choice ( mine would be an Air Norton or a Virtual Paf )
then I'd add either one or two push-pull DPDT switch pots and wire it up like a PRS so I could get some single coil sounnds out of the monster.......

If I was to go with any white guard, then I'd change out the stock bridge pup with a new white Dimarzio of your choice ( I'd probably go for a PAF or Virtual PAF ) which would work nice with the coil switching and/or tapping.

my $.02

one pp switch pot

thanks jamminjim. :)

I've been thinking of the following. I really don't like the switch thats installed on Sub1's. I want to add a 5 way stratocaster like switch for the following config:

1. singlecoil bridge
2. humbucking bridge
3. dual humbucker
4. humbucking neck
5. singlecoil neck

I still have a Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader (black) laying around but i'm not sure if i'm gonna use it. I might sell it and get 2 new PU's....

If it were me and going the 5-way switch route,

I'd get a super switch and wire it up like an Axis Super Sport.

but the guard with a 5 way strat switch opening that is located far enough away from the control cavity side wall is going to be a little pricey.
