While I can't help you out too much on this. I did play my SR5 through a GB600 when I was trying it out at the shop. I bought the SR5 because it produced the sound I went in looking for so I say it will sound good.

Did not see anything about that head that would really give me cause for concern in reliablity either.

My bass player used to have a GB combo amp, but it spent more time in the repair shop than at rehearsal, so he got rid of it and bought a GK head.

The only Genz Benz bass rig I ever played through sounded horrible, and this poor asshat had spent a TON of money on the thing.

But that's the only experience I've ever had with one, so......YMMV, etc.

You're right! Haha. Truth be told, he had to have a fan installed in the GK head because it cooked this summer when we were playing an outdoor gig at a pig roast.

I used to have a GK 250ML guitar amp back in the 80's. It was a great sound for the time, and I used it on a recording session once.. loved that little amp.

I currently am playing a Genz Benz GBE 600 through a Genz Benz 610T-XB2 with a Stingray. How is the sound. Its great. A very nice round, articulate sound. Very powerful and versatile. The array of tones you can get out of it is asounding. Very ballsy when you want it to be. I've had no reliability issues with it. I've never heard of anyone having any issues with it. I love the stuff.

I admittedly am about to switch back to GK fairly soon though because I would just prefer a more sterile sound. GK is just my calling I guess, but I don't intend on selling my Genz stuff.

Yes it does.

And Steve, sadly there were some problems with the 1001RB fans. However, GK has fixed those issues in the newer series of amps, and Ive yet to have a problem with either of my 1001RB-IIs. They have both been on the road for over a year now.

That is more reliable than my mailbox. It only has to sit next to the road and it has been broken countless times. :) Will GK make me a mailbox?

so the GK 1001 is crap? I have a 400 and find it very reliable, had a hartke and nothing but probs and you can only send it back to the distributer in NY cause its made in Korea and it was a PI the A---> GK was Highly recommended but I want some basic built in effects. maybe I'll look into Edens instead?

Tajue17,

Nobody said the 1001 was crap. All I said was that my bass player cooked his GK head (I'm not sure which model) at a gig. Things like that happen to equipment, no matter how good it is.

This gig in particular had a really awful power scenario, which probably caused his 'cooking'. I attribute the fact that my gear survived to my usage of a Furman power conditioner. Don't mess around, friends. Clean power saves gear!

Fry one amp and have to pay for the repairs and you'll be getting to the music store as fast as you can to get a power conditioner.

Power Conditioner - Less than $100.

Amp Repair - More that $250.
