I've owned and loved my Morse model for ten years but I've always wondered what it would sound like with different pickups and 500k ohm pots. I love Steve's tone, but technique-wise (and amp-wise), the reality is that I'm not even close to maximizing the guitar's potential.

Last weekend I found out.

I saved the stock pickguard intact (added a Molex connector only) in case I ever want to revert to stock. I bought a blank pickguard and all the switches from EB (thanks AJ!) and built a new pickguard with the following: Dimarzio Air Norton, Air Zone, and two Area 67s, RS 500k ohm pots, and a Jensen .022 paper-and-oil capacitor. I added chrome knobs too. The wiring/switching is exactly the same as original.

It sounds fantastic! More of an Axis SS sound with the two humbuckers. So far, I like the new look.

Looks cool! How about a demo?!

How are the dimarzio area pickups? I've got some lying around that I've not used yet- thinking of putting them in my Silo Spec.

Hey- nice! Reminds me of a Morse I sold a few months back:

Very close. Had Axis humbuckers in there, and first Dimarzio Areas and then Bill Lawrence L200s to replace them.
