Hello,

I just recieved a new old stock music man axis sport in the mail today purchased from chucklevins.com. I found a few hairline cracks where the neck meets the body. I am wondering if these are just finish cracks and no big deal or if they could possibly in time lead to problems.
Thanks for looking!

My friend has the same problem on his Axis. Exactly the same thing, same place, same size.

Has your friend contacted EB? it's a bit unfair when people post about problems here first. The best course of action is contact EB first.

Colin,

It was my impression that the moderators here work for Ernie Ball music man and are here to give helpful advice. You can only do so much over the phone. You cannot show a picture over the phone. You can show a picture very easily here however. If it is nothing then I won't even have to worry about calling.
I just read through the faq section and there was a post about these finish cracks and how they do not harm anything but it happen sbecause the poly finish cures at a different rate than the wood or something of that nature and so where there is stress put on the finish there could be a few cracks. i am hoping that is all this is. It is hardly noticable.

This is not entirely correct, they also can be contacted by email. I have done this myself with amazing success. EB customer services are brilliant to deal with.

Hey Now Colin,

Yeah...you know you do have a point. It probably would have been more tactful to send the picture via e-mail. Although this thread could prove to be helpful if this same thing happens to another persons music man.

Hey man enjoy the forum, it's the best place to hang. How many forums have the Head Honcho (AKA Sterling Ball) posting regularly? Make sure you post pics of the whole guitar when you can. :)

Don't worry about the cracks - they're only cosmetic. If they don't bother you, you needn't do anything about them... If they do bother you, however, don't hesitate to contact customer service. As an NOS guitar, I'd think it's under warranty, n'est pas?

BTW, some of us moderators are just fans of the guitars... :)

I have had amazing success by phone and email. My case came back from EB with a huge chunk missing (UPS doesnt understand fragile) I called them and was told to email them some pictures of the broken case. The next day i had a new case on the way. EB ROCKS:D

Hey Now all,

Jimi D - Thanks for the reassurance it is only cosmetic. After reading through faq I thought the same thing...and they do not bother me one bit...you can hardly tell they are there...I have a feeling this baby is gonna get worse cosmetic dings and scratches in it's time.

Did you get a discount because of the crack? And as BP asked, what is the serial number?
