Now that I've stopped the bleeding...

Okay, the fretless is done. I'll probably leave the fretted until tomorrow.

I'm surprised no one guessed. All I'm doing is installing recessed Dunlop straplocks.
I've never liked the way the Dunlop straplocks looked on the Bongos, and I absolutely despise the Schaller straplock system.

Now the strap is flush with the Bongo body, and all looks great! Since the body is so rounded, I want to get some black rubber washers on there before I post pics. I'm also waiting for a couple of other things to show up....

0557--I've had the Roland VBass pickup installed on my Black Sapphire Bongo in the past, so MIDI was a good guess. :D

Pics, finally....

Okay, here are some pics of Moby with the recessed strap locks.

Since both the horn and body are so curved, I went to Home Depot and got some rubber grommets to put underneath the straplock. Of course, this makes them not quite as flush as they'd be without them, but it's still a major improvement, and I think they look nice, too.

The Black Sapphire looks great, too, but it got too dark last night before I got pictures taken.

You'll see those when the next round of mods takes place next week. :D

Heh--I knew when I posted that I forgot to take a picture with the strap. I also knew that someone would quickly say "Pics with strap, please." :D

This is the Dunlop straplock system, so the peg goes inside the whole. So, yes, plenty of room for the strap.

can't see any pictures either
What do you not like about the schaller straplock system? I use it for about 2 years now, and never had problems with it. on the other hand, never tryd another straplock system, for the simple reason the schaller system is till now the only one I've seen here in Belgium
