So with all the new good stuff coming for NAMM, is there a new Morse BFR? Are those already available? Already gone? I'm confused!

Is anything known about a promised "real" Morse BFR - I mean, not just a rosewood neck, but one with a mahog tone block and a maple top (Y2D with the tone block)? Maybe in new colours? And maybe with all the 4 pickups?

As for the rosewood necks being a BFR - not to take away from the visual beauty of the neck, but c'mon guys - it's not a custom shop guitar compared to the 20-th, BFR AL, BFR Luke or BFR JP. I've tried a rosewood neck silo and an all rosewood axis and they were as great as any Music Man - but the silo was certainly not as exclusive in tone, as the mahog block BFRs are. It's all fine from a marketing and PR-viewpoint, but I begin - as You see :) - to get a little unnerved, when on this forum a standard model with an all rosewood neck as opposed to maple/rosewood is called a custom shop model.

There are quite a few marketing reasons why e.g. not every Mercedes or Porsche is called a "custom made" car.

Well, I could be wrong, but I gathered from the Guitar Center event that the rosewood neck Morse did have the tone block, and was truly a BFR? I guess we have to wait and see. I wasn't sure if the info was already out to the public or not?

BTW, congrats and all the best wishes to You and Your wife - while I don't have any children myself yet (but I will start working on that after the marriage in the end of July), they sure are the best of God's gifts even to us, pure guitar geeks. :)

A BFR is whatever the Ball Family decides to release whether it's a small run or is available permanently. The tone block doesn't have to be in it but the BFR inlay sure does. I did watch Steve Morse play a Y2D with a tone block in it at the desert bash (soundchecking with Dudley and Sterling), but that model hasn't been released. Beej was standing next to me maybe he can remember more?

Totally! We get all caught up with the Tone Block, but in reality it's just a way that we can get access to protos, one-offs, etc. Pretty cool stuff. I'm constantly stoked by the stuff they put out.

Damn that was fun - I could watch Steve play all day. Just nuts. That one didn't have the tone block in it- Steve, Dudley and Sterling were all trying to figure out if it did (looking down the neck for the visible mahog block). Turns out Steve had been sent one, but it was at home with his collection of guitars.

From what I can gather, Steve either hasn't really played with the Tone Block or isn't keen on it. He's obviously pretty particular- knows exactly what he wants and has stuck with his original #1 for years despite have access to just about anything. Tommy would know more than anyone.

Last I heard (and it was on the board here), Steve was loving the True Gold RW necked Morse he was given for the 25th tour with Sterling and Luke. He was having it tweaked by Dudley and was going to play it on the road with Purple. Hopefully Tommy can give us the scoop in the near future. Who knows, if he really loves the RW neck, maybe that'll become a regular option in the future. Ya just never know.

But I'm really keen to hear about a chambered Morse a la 25th. Sterling mentioned that they were making chambered versions of all the artist guitars to try out. Now that's cool.

Colin, the white one is haunting me! So killer!
Ug ... me too. I *so* wish I had the cash for that right now.
