MORSE Y2D Owners: please educate me!

I'm looking to broaden the collection and add another Ball to the mix. I've been thinking about a few different models. A JP6 definately interests me right now, but lately I've really been thinking about the Y2D too.

What do you luv about your Y2D? What is the neck profile similar to? I had a SUB1 a few years ago....is the body similar to the SUB? How do you feel about the pickups?

Pros/cons?

As always.....all feedback is much appreciated.

Where do I start? The pickup configuration with the single coil makes it a very versatile axe. I have a hard tail and love the Tune-O-Matic bridge. I would call the neck profile modern, but not flat. I typically like big '50s-style necks, but get along with this one just fine. The body shape is great and balances on my (slightly large) frame well.

The pickups are unique, there are many threads around here about them. It's definitely a different voice from your 25th. THe neck is warmer/smokier, and the bridge has more of a Tele bite. They are both ceramic, and are hot and fast underhand.

And the purple sunset is just drop-dead gorgeous.

It's just an awesome guitar overall. It can really do so many things with the pickup combinations. The balance of the body is really nice and it's very comfortable even without any of the contours on other guitars. Neck is just perfect I think...not too thick, not too thin...just very comfortable. I also love the hardtail bridge on this one...stays in tune forever. Now I really like the pickups a LOT. I changed them recently just to experiment, but I am thinking of going back to the originals. The neck pickup is just amazing. You can really play any style with this guitar, and the humbuckers split really well if you want more single coil like tones.

I think me and Roubster are the Y2D cheerleaders of late. All I can say is I have a gig tonight with my Memphis Soul tribute band, and I'll be playing the Y2D for all three sets.

The neck is outstanding. Your hand will LOVE it.

It sounds great and gives you a wide range of sounds, going from amazing cleans to super defined lead sounds.

If you want to play thrash metal maybe it won´t help, but in every other style of rock this guitar delivers the goods with amazing ease.

Well, and the look is INSANE.

Go for it. You won´t regret it.

the Y2D has a more mid-range tone as the JP6. if you want to play metal with the guitar, i would prefer the JP to it´s more scooped like sound.
if you are playing jazz, pop, rock, hard-rock....and nearly any other style, go for the Y2D.
it´s an awesome guitar in both versions - tremolo or hardtail - both rock like hell!

I second everything here, except that I didn't like the neck profile on the JP6 and I get by using my Y2D for metal just fine.

I'm about to pick up a Y2D. I own a JPX already. Can you compare and contrast on the two a bit more for me? Just to fuel my already ridiculous excitement.

can´t speak for a JPX, never played one, just have a "normal" JP BFR and the regluar JP models.
the BFR has more mids as the regular ones, but still sounds not that "rough" (like the Y2D does) for any kind of rock-style music. it´s a different kind of mid-range that´s coming from the Y2D as from the JPs.

the only thing i can say is, check out a Y2D! it´s a totally different style of guitar and hard to compare with a JP.
i love both guitars as well as my EVH and all have their own character to it.

They are a deep purple (LOL) and in most lighting its hard to distinguish they aren't black.

Let me say that I LOVE THE Y2D! (i'm thinking about getting another one, hard tail this time). I have a purple sunset with a floyd. It replaced my JEM. Tonally this thing is a beast!! I've been playing my STD more lately, but I get on kicks like that. The neck reminds me of almost a fender style neck but more comfortable. I think Big Poppa said they used the technique of matching Morse's neck to give it that played feel ( they did the same thing for some guy named Eddie haha). I could be wrong on that fact, I just remember watching a video a while back that I think they said that. Anyway, The pickups are purple yes...but really its a really dark purple, I don't think really you can tell unless you get a flashlight and look at them haha. The body is great, and like all morse guitars when you are playing siting down they don't move its really cool. Standing up, its feels good almost tele-like (wonder why? lol). The JP is a really cool guitar. But its not for me. Check one out man, I think you'll end up like the rest of us and wonder why it took you this long to buy one haha.
