Hi there,

Since I am not going to get that Michael Knight Knight Rider screen used black leather jacket (I know!) I am starting to plan what new guitar I want to get next year.

I have always wanted a purple Morse Y2D, but I have a couple of questions.

First off, how does the sound compare to that of the Axis/ALHH. Is the output in the same ballpark, especially at the bridge? And is it a mid focused sound rather than a scooped sound?

And secondly the weight. I would of course be looking for a hardtail, and I really need it to weight 7lbs or just over. My poor back can't sustain anything more than that! I have found a few examples online that are in the 8lb range. Is the 7lb Y2D an impossibility, or would I find one eventually?

Thanks for the input!

Hmm. I have the standard Morse, and it weighs in at 8.7lbs. It's a thick poplar slab body, with 4 pickups. The Y2D has less switches, but also may have less routed out.

I have an Axis and Y2D. It's definitely more heavy, not as bad as a Les Paul, but you notice the difference between the guitars. Tone-wise, hmm, some of the pickup positions like the single coil middle and dual bridge/neck pickup positions in Y2D makes it sound different, for the other settings the Axis might have a little bit more bite and Y2D more distortion roundness to the humbuckers. The neck pickup is also very suitable for soloing, it's not as hollow sounding that is common with neck humbuckers.

The floating point tremolo (Floyd Rose) is the most sensitive/expressive Floyd Rose I have ever owned (more sensitive than let's say an Ibanez RG540/770.)

Hey Tim. The Y2D bridge pickup is bigger sounding with sweeter highs. More oomph and a bit more compressed than the B1. The Y2D neck pickup has more highs than the N1 but still stays smooth. I don't change amp settings when changing guitars and I'm very pleased with tones from both.

The average Y2D is a lot closer to 8lbs then 7lbs - but the 2014 PDN African Mahogany run were lighter than average so those might be around 7lbs.

I have THREE "standard" Morses from that run and am *dying* for a Y2D - so I gotta warn you, it'll be a close quarters knife fight when one comes on the market! :D

Don't forget the 2012 PDN run, almost the same specs as the neptune blue run!

Just weighed mine, it is about 3,2 kg. Should be around 7lb?

Couldn't compare the tone to an Axis but I love my Y2D.

It IS probably the heaviest electric I own. Definitely heavier in both weight and tone than the standard Morse.

Then you don't own any HEAVY electric guitars. :)

I'm not calling the Y2D "light" - but it's kind of in the middle of the guitar weight bell curve....
