11's on the Silo. 11's were home for years...they also work well for some really odd tunings...wait till you hear what i'm cooking up...

Is your Silo a hardtail? If not...you're a pu$$y ;)

I had 12's on my tele with it's old neck, that was the only way I could get any relief in it, the truss rod simply wouldn't adjust. Worked like a charm! Big bends were out of the question, but my vibrato never sounded better...neither has my tone. (I use 10's with the new neck.)

Your post has me thinking of going back to 12's with that guitar

It's got a trem...I cranked the springs down nicey, adjusted the action a touch downwards and lil tweak of the rod...it's sweet and snappy as hell. I lived in the house of elevens and twelves for a long time until I had a wrist injury...the heavier jobs got to be unplayable...I went down to 10s since 9's don't sound good...things got better and I figger'd i'd get back into the tone again...

I find myself very happy with "the best of both worlds" solution - Skinny Top Heavy Bottom 10-52 set. Unwound strings are still fairly easy to bend, and you get a better tone (well that's subjective) from the wound strings. I currently have GHS Progressives 10-52 on my SUB (don't ask me why I put them on), but I really don't like them, so they're going in favor of Slinkys of the same gauge (if I can get my hands on them).
