I play a Luke BFR, don't know if that matters..

Thanks

2 that I'm familiar with. I use a Digitech RP250. There is a good help forum on the web and downloads are available. I run a USB cable up to my laptop and run a GUI that shows the signal chain with all possible pedals with on/off buttons and then choices of what pedal....which then brings up whatever controls that pedal has. So you can start with nothing and turn on some delay, set it, turn on a reverb and set it etc. The adjustable pedal on the unit can be defined how you want it....volume, wah, etc. It has just 2 stomps that go up and down the sound files that you can name. 60 preset and 60 settable. What I do is get all the sounds I need set up one after the other, then just go up/down. It's a nice small unit....smaller than a laptop. For performances, I don't have the laptop out....just a paper with each sound written and left/right to show where each one is....and I put that on the floor for reference. This can take either USB or 1/8" inputs (maybe even both at the same time....never tried that) with 1 1/4" guitar jack and 2 1/4" outputs to either split the output or go mono out. Used ones are cheap. I got mine near the end of it's sellable life new (they change models and names about once a year), and with a coupon, I paid like $129 for it. I only use a few of the preset sounds, but the acoustic is awesome. I've used that with my sub 1 and once with my Al SSS when our acoustic player didn't show up and it sounded awesome going from an acoustic rythem to a chimey lead for solos.

Other guys use the Line 6 Live X3, which is way bigger...maybe 3 laptop size. Personally, I found it confusing, but I would expect that I could perhaps hook up a laptop in a similar way. I've found that this creates amazing sounds.

I have been using Boss GT3 for years and now I'm moving to pedals.

The boss is a fantastic unit very useful when you play live, I am now looking for something more organic.

I second the TC Electronic Nova System, especially coupled with an expression pedal or the G Switch.

I honestly have never found one that I am wild about, but haven't tried the Nova System which has an excellent reputation. I recently bought a Line6 M9, and I have liked it better than any others I tried - simple to use and plenty of sounds

I just picked up the Zoom G3. For $199 it sure sounds like it should be a lot more. They just came out and I don't think Guitar Center carries Zoom. Case seems to be made of metal and it's got a ton of amps sims and effects. You can also do deep programing using your PC or Mac via USB or record direct with it.

For a multi-effects unit, it's by far the easiest to program and sounds good too. Still digging into it, but so far so good.

If you want a multi fx unit that compliments your rig, then go Nova. While it can be ran infront of your amp to utilize the distortion channel, I found that it just adds beautiful tc quality delay and modulation to your loop so well.

Not to mention it's built like a brick. I think you can shoot it and it'd still be alright. Being totally serious.

digitech GNX4. 1000s of great sounds, 8 track recorder, looper, MP3 player, mixer. a swiss army knife for real. I used it for 2 theatre shows (pit band) and it just plain is great. Best part is if you have a EBMM piezo, that integrates easily right into it. Sounds great through powered monitors. I have lots of tube amps, but this is a great TOOL. Amazing direct to PA. I've had it for 5 years and still...

The future is here. I saw one of these @ L&M in Toronto today and kind of laughed at the price. After watching Alex Hutchings demo it though, I was convinced the future has arrived. It will compliment my MM Guitars. This has Music Man content as well. Alex is very talented. You have to watch the entire video. Some jaws will drop. I had the Nova System for about a year and it was incredible -
i used it with a Tech 21 Midi Moose and could control all of my presets with it...

also you can connect an EBMM VPjr to the Nova as an expression pedal which i did as well...
i'd run one in front and one as an expression...
incredible setup - but i ended up trading it when i was in a bind and needed a small 112 tube combo amp while my main amp was in the shop. I've since gone to individual pedals but the Nova was great.
Lots of preset info spec sheets out there and all of them were really good...

You guys got me rethinking about my pedalboard with that TC Nova System.

It's seems to be a very good units and I can still use my V-twin. I'm tempted to try one
