Hey guys.

The local music scene here sucks ASS. Most bands that I like don't even come to Tucson, and sometimes they gloss right over Phoenix as well. The music store scene here is not pretty either. Guitar Center here in Tucson does not even stock any MM guitars at all. "They don't sell" was the BS excuse they gave me. Well yeah they don't sell if you don't stock them. They only stock the basses. The music store that I just recently placed my order for my JP7 fully loaded in mystic dream is better. But for instance, their stock when I ordered the guitar was kinda sad. They had a SUB, a piezo-less Petrucci, and a few Silhouettes. The guy said they've had one BFR Petrucci in the store in the past, and that he won't stock ALs because it would compete against Fender. Lame.

I know that I want to buy a BFR Petrucci soon. But I can't even find one locally to try out. I want to see how I respond to the painted neck. I might hit up some music stores on my way to LA when I go to see Progressive Nation on May 2nd.

Guess I am going to have to move out of this state.

I'll try to make you feel better. You know what my local dealer said when I asked if they carried JP7s?

"No, we don't carry 7 strings. No one would buy them..."

Erm... right...

Don't complain, you could live in Australia! The bosses here say they cant make enough guitars to fill the shops requests, thats good!

That's true. At least I could drive somewhere to find something. I just hate making a big guitar purchase with no experience with the actual instrument, you know?

I totally get what you're saying. Worst comes to worse though, you can order the BFR Pet sight unseen (like I did with mine) and if you don't like it, bring it back. Thats the beauty of the GC return policy.

On a side note, I doubt you'll have a problem with the painted neck. If you're used to the regular Pet neck, it'll take you a few minutes to adjust to the painted neck. It pretty much feels the same, at least to me. I actually like the painted neck better :).

You can always

You can always take the 90 minute drive to Phx. The GC in Peoria has a TON of MM guitars usually. Last time i was there a week ago they had a JP6 Family Reserve, Luke Family Reserve, 3 Axis SS, two SS and a few standard JP6 and Lukes. Its less than a 90 minute drive from Tucson I think. Worth a shot.

That's more EB guitar stock then I've seen in any GC I've been to. Ever. The most I've ever seen is one Axis.
One.

To get a feel for EB painted necks you could try the SUB at Rainbow. Or perhaps any Bongo. All your trying is the paint. And I bet the paint finishes are very comperable. Yep, it's not wood, but as you know mahogany needs more than the oil and wax affords.

Finding a BFR Pet locally anywhere would be an acomplishment. Just cause we live in Tucson isn't the reason. Wichata only has a CG (no inventory listed) and the next closest EBMM dealer is OKla City. And they only have Basses too.

I would like to recommend you get quotes from a couple of places (GC included) before you place your order.

If there is something you see below that you are really interested in then PM me and we could meet somewhere. They are not for sale but I'd be happy for you to try one. (provided you wash your hands first :) )

Coming from a person in Arizona as well.

Scottsdale has probably been the largest EBMM supplier I have seen. When I went there yesturday, I saw 2 Original Petrucci's, fully loaded, except for one without inlays. I also saw a Luke. It is a very nice location. But I have also been told that the location in Peoria as an abundant amount. Maybe it is worth the drive :D. But if you live in Tuscon, or Phoenix, take a drive to Scottsdale, or even Peoria if you have the time.

I am going to check out a GC on the way when I pass through Phoenix when I go to see the Progressive Nation tour with Dream Theater and Opeth.

make sure you go to the Peoria location, its on Peoria. The Tempe location has 0 EBMM, and the Avondale location has 0 EBMM. Scottsdale sometimes has a couple, but Peoria has the most and sometimes they are hanging in the platinum room. Good luck!
