What do you think would be a good gadget for EBMM basses?
Here's one(Bovine etc will hate me for this :D :D :D )

The Fantastic M-1 Switching System
Press the button and the sound of your Rosewood StingRay changes to the sound of a Maple fingerboard StingRay and vice versa so you have best of both worlds! Now how cool is that?

Or when Ernie Ball buys Fender sometime, all the basses wil feature S-3 swithces where a jazz will be able to sound like a StingRay, a Bongo etc etc

I'm waiting for your ideas. Who knows, if joniguitarz reads this, they might use sth(and give the prototype to me for posting this thread)!

I've already got one!

I push down on the volume knob and voila!

Either my hearing is so bad I can't hear it or there is so little difference I can't hear it, but either way, I can't tell the diff between maple and rosewood boards.

And I would wager that, in a blind listening test, neither could almost anyone else.

What say you, good people?

I'm with ya, Bovie. I've owned maple boards, and I've owned rosewood boards and I can make a rosewood boarded bass sound bright and snappy, and I can make a maple boarded bass sound warm and deep. Pickwhat ya like, and play it, I say.

Rosewood all the way. Such a warm sound. Ive only owned 1 maple necked EB, a trans teal StingRay and thats what showed me how much I liked the rosewood.

"Shut up and play your bass."

:D

Oh wait. Then this forum would be empty! Nevermind! :p

Edit: Actually, I've been thinking about bass tremolo bars as late. I wonder how that would look/sound/affect a Bongo. Hey EB, hows about a tremolo bar?

because I'm a fretless nut I'll agree with you on fretted, but on fretless...... the difference is more pronounced. Purpleheart is still one of the best woods for fretless.

You know, I've never had two instruments that were comparable enough to know for sure... all my maple boarded basses were pretty bright sounding, all my rosewood boarded basses were warmer. I'd eventually like to get a rosewood boarded stingray to complement the maple one I already have.

It's those flats you use, Bov. They totally bassy up the tone. That bright snappiness is lost with them TIs. :p

Oh, I've not always played TI Flats.

There have been other strings. I shall not name them here, but they were evil.

Things I want from EBMM:

1. A good case for the Bongo 5.

2. Bongo shirts!

3. Paying job.

That's about all I can come up with.

Don't make statements like this here(paying job), because Sterling Ball might turn you to a Junior Member/Newbie with his magic wand!
