I bought a used Music Man SB14 recently on Ebay for a ridiculous price of $248.00. This bass looks brand new out of the box. Unfortunately, all is not well with my new (used) bass. I recently changed out the 9-volt battery in the back in that the bass started sounding really bad. I bought a new (restock), Hartke 120 watt bass amp that has a 15" woofer. This amp is remarkably powerful for 120 watts. I had a GK 350 watt amp with 2X10" speakers and tweeter. The Hartke amp blows it away easily. The issue I am having is that after I changed out the 9-volt battery with a new 9-volt battery, the bass does not sound that same as it did prior to the battery failure. I do not have a clue as to what could be the problem at hand. I play in a gospel group, and we are booked all of the month of September 2013. I need to resolve the issue asap. I am thinking of buying one of the new Music Man basses that are all under $300.00. The SB4 is the model like its more expensive SB14 bass that I bought. I am afraid that I will have to send my SB14 bass off somewhere to get it repaired. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be the problem? I will appreciate any help with this.
