Music Man SUB Bass Question! HELP

Hey everyone, i just picked up a second hand ernie ball music man SUB bass today. but ive been reading and apparently when it says "SUB Bass" on the headstock then its an active bass...but if it just says "SUB" on the headstock its passive......

well interesting enough my headstock says "SUB Bass" and it is a passive bass? does anyone know why this is? thank you!

There was always a choice of either active or passive. The logo initially started off as "S.U.B." before it changed to "SUB Bass" about a year latter but that had nothing to do with the appointment of electronics.

ohhhhh i seee, because i originally watched a youtube video where someone stated that the SUB Bass logo was active, and the S.U.B logo was passive. thanks for clarifying!

Be careful with internet wisdom. If it's active, it will have a battery cover on the back of the body.
