I've got some ENGL stuff coming in the next few weeks. An Invader 100, a Powerball &/or a Screamer 50 - I'll be able to give my thoughts on them later.

PS they are good enough for Steve Morse.

Pete, did you get the Screamer 50 in yet, and if so what are your thoughts?

Can those of you that like the Engl stuff expand upon "good tone" and talk about what kind of tone you go for, and what style you play? I'm kind of interested in these as well, especially the powerball...

i'm not big on lots of typing.
if ya wanna ring me...i'll be glad to describe what i found.

I played the powerball at petes shop. Meaty. Tons of gain on hand if your into that. Clean was very chimey and crunch was very nice.

I'm a big fan of Engl. I've been using a Fireball (kinda like a stripped down 60 watt version of the Powerball) for over a year now, and it's a great amp, very relyable. It's definetly a very 'Metal' sounding amp, lots of gain, and I'd describe the sound as in the same ballpark as a boosted Recto or 5150.

I am hoping to upgrade to an E670 Special Edition head, or possibly an Invader at some stage though.
