Whoo-hoo!

Enjoy the pix!

JP6 Mystic Dream Loaded
JP6 Egyptian Smoke
Luke BFR Walnutburst
ASS LE w/ MM90's

I got the itch for the JP's for some reason. Now I can't put them down! I don't know how to choose between them or the Luke now. They are ALL just awesome. Some quick thoughts:

My Luke is super badness. The top sucks BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!
I love it and have no problems with it.

The JP6 MD is becoming my fave. The finish is way cooler than I had thought it would be. I'm mesmerized by it. Unfortunately I have a bad saddle on the Low E string. In piezo mode, it's literally HALF the output vol of the others. I called CS, and the girl really offered little info only that they could sell me another one for $35 plus shipping. I guess I will have to go that route then. Battery is good, and the saddle height is good. Seems to have enough pressure on the string too.

I really fancy running it to the clean setting on my amp, and using just one cable, blending the two sounds. It's super lush! I agree that the piezo is well worth it, despite reading others describe output issues on occasion.

The JP6 ES I have I got before the MD. And it is just as killer. The neck is to die for. I will say that the two diff bridge PU's sound different, but both good. I think the Dsonic has a bit more of a "warmer slightly meaner mid" sound to it. The PU on the ES sounds a bit brighter, but not in a brittle way. Just different. On the ES... middle position on my clean channel? HEAVEN!!!!! I thought I would end up selling the ES after I got the MD, but I don't think I can part with it now. It's more of the same, but different enough to have it's own mojo.

Now on to my ASSLE. As you might know, I was hot on selling it, until it fell out of the case. I'm still reeling about that. No way could I recoup what I had in it after that. So, I decided to give it another shot. I first thought I'd replace the PU's, but instead, I spent a LOT of time with it and my Spider Valve. It was SO worth the time too. I now know her voice, and I have custom tailored some presets for it. Now I'm in hog heaven!!! It's definitely a keeper. Once you figured out what it does best, and exploit that, it's golden. Rather than try to make it do something it's not really meant for. Just as I was advised to do... so thanks guys!!

I'm pleased to say that 3 of your gems came through my store. The neck on that Egyptian Smoke is ridiculous, and that BFR Luke = WOW. I'm a sucker for Blue Dawn so I love the Axis, too.

Great pictures capturing the different shades of Mystic Dream.

That Luke is amazing!

I'd put in another call to CS on that saddle. I can't image you'd have to pay for a new one, if the guitar is under warranty.

Thanks guys! In researching that Egyptian Smoke, I found that it indeed passed thru Pete's store. How cool is that? Looks like I'm a "Dubaldo kinda guy". HA! Pete is a gem to deal with for sure.

I can't get over how great these guitars are. And what I love the most, is that they all have their own voice, even the two JP's that I have. They are both different from each other. They feel pretty much the same, but offer something a bit different for the tonal pallet.

I think I might be done buying MM's for a while though. I can't really think of any other model that I could "use". They all are great to look at and play though. I think if I could find a Dargie JP6, I'd find a way to own it. And also, an AL with HH would be a dream axe for me too, but I don't think they make one. I know Pete has one, but it's a one off. Am I wrong on that? I realize that two humbuckers kinda defeats the intent of the AL, but I'm not really interested in another SC or MM90 guitar. The AL is a great looking and feeling guitar though.

Since i'm not the original owner of the MD JP6, they didn't offer to send me a free saddle unfortunately. It was born on 9/16/06, and off hand, I can't say for sure how long the warranty is.

Another thing I'm not sure of, is if there is a "fix" for a piezo saddle problem? I see posts here all the time about it, but I'm not yet clear on if it can be "fixed" by the user, or if a replacement is always the end result? I've tried everything to get it to work, and I can't. So, I'll probl be ordering a saddle on Monday.

Anyway... thanks for all the help guys!

Mmmm..... HSS. That'll do!

Also, I called CS on friday and talked to some girl. She didn't really try and troubleshoot it. She put me on hold and came back and told me the price and shipping for a new one. She was nice. But that's all that went down.

Should I call AGAIN?

Gigged with both JP6's for the first time last night. I think these have 9's on them. I'm not sure. I know that I had tuning problems all night on the MD. I don't really think I want a Tremel-No, but may figure a way to block the bridge so It doesn't move as much. Using a floating trem is a pain kinda. If all the strings are a hair out, it's not easy for me yet to to get the guitar in tune quickly. And on stage, 30 seconds feels like an eternity! I didn't really have any tuning problems with my ES.

As far as tone goes, the both were kind of the same. But man... you'll think i'm nuts, but I think I almost prefer my ES over the MD. It's tragic because the MD is so freaking cool! But my stripped down ES model w/ the original PU config in it, has a bit better sound to my ears I think. The MD w/ Dsonic is darker sounding, and maybe not quite as easy to hear live. A lot of it was the stage we were on I think. And I was standing right on top of my amp. It was the type of place where less gain is more, etc. A perfect place to bring the ASS LE out.

It's apples and oranges really. But I guess my point is, if I had to choose between the two right now I'd choose the ES! I just need more time getting used to them I think.
