Sold my pearl blue Stingray 5 and got this awesome pearl blue Sterling that plays and sounds like a dream. Has some dings and dents, but the neck is fantastic and the three coil ceramic pup is so so nice. Check her out here. Yeah, I know its the same color as the SR5, but it was destiny. Both are 99's too. Go figure. A good year for all things Music Man!!! I play 4 string mostly and according to my wife have too many basses anyway.

Nice pickguard with that rosewood board!!! Bet it sounds nice. Dual NY121 stack in the back next to a red SR5???

Thanks, I just found out the DOB is 1/21/00 and I really was on a tone quest about ceramic vs. alnico and just decided the ceramic 3 coil was exactly what I wanted. I'd had an alnico in my old SR5, but it just didn't have the sound I wanted. I've got what I need / want in this bass. Admire your herd and may have a bongo in my future. Which flats do you like on this bass??? I'm considering the d'addario half-rounds. What do you think?

I'm not using EB strings so I won't mention it on here. But they are flat wounds in .45 - .100 gauge.

I tried the half rounds on my Sterling 4, didn't like them. They were too bright, not the sound I was looking for. Did not have the feel of true flats. Weren't for me.

Very nice sterling! :)

Love this color and fretboard got nice maple grain!

Is it a matching headstock? If so, I'd go with white pearloid PG! ;)

Great idea!

I string my Sterling with medium guage (50-105) D'Addario half rounds, and I love the tone--it sits somewhere between rounds and flats, but with the EQ on the bass you can tame the high end and get a fantastic thumpy tone.

I didn't like the half rounds so much on my Stingray though... love the sound of my Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's (50-105).

No matter what you choose, it's going to sound great!!

Here is my awesome headstock. I am not changing strings anytime soon, but would like to use some pure nickel flats at some point. I'm just enjoying the sound I'm getting with the selector in parallel, mids rolled off slightly, and bass and treble slightly past center. Any suggestions for other cool sounds appreciated. Also, I've fallen in love with the Black Pearl pickguard and ordered one. Will definitely post a pic when it comes in. I thought about the vintage white pearl which looks cool, but I really like the look of Oddjob's bass and want to try that on mine. I just couldn't see the white pearl or vintage white pearl on mine. Maybe it's a Pirates of the Caribbean thing... The Black Pearl and all. LOL Have a great weekend everyone. Rainrog, did you get your Sterling yet??? A photo would be nice...
