Hey BigPoppa Or Jon,
I was polishing my two JP6's yesterday and noticed that my Blue Dawn was quite a bit heavier than my White Sparkle. This in turn led to me doing a tone test between the two. I noticed that the lighter one(White Sparkle) had a completely different sound than the heavier(Blue Dawn). The lighter one(White Sparkle) had more mid response and a woodier tone if that makes any sense. The Blue Dawn was more crisp sounding. My question is there a possiblity that a different wood was used on my Blue Dawn? I know that Basswood is supposed to be a very light, softer wood wich is a good match to what I am hearing from my White Sparkle JP6.

No 2 guitars normally sound exactly the same, 2 different trees, 2 different peices of wood, if you get my meaning.

Enjoy 'em though,

Scott.

Brett....out of my JP's, my Rad Red has a different sound than that of my Mystic Dream and my Pearl Redburst seems to have a different sound. My Rad Red seems heavier, but I attribute that to the piezo option. I noticed right off the bat the difference in sound of my Rad Red compared to my other two. You would think that they would always sound similar or really close to each other, but, as someone mentioned, no two trees are the same......interesting though.

Wood density can vary from tree to tree, blank to blank. That would account for the difference in weight.

All my 5 balls sound slightly different. The EVH is way more trebly than the rest of my collection. The Sparkle has the most cream to the sound etc..

Yeah I realize that each piece of wood is unique but the difference in wieght between the two is quite alot.I was just a little curious thought maybe someone might have loaded the wrong peice of wood by accident into the CNC machine or something. They both still sound amazing though.

yeah, I have several hardtial axis SS's and they all sound different from each other. BUT if I compare them to other guitars; they sound like my ears 'expect' an axis SS to sound... then when I go back and compare them to each other, it's amazing the range of sonic properties they cover from instrument to instrument. my trans orange is by far the least heavy... in fact, it think (aside from my parker that I probably haven't really played since 1999) it's the lightest guitar I own - and it's really, really tight in the bass range.
