I finally did it. I purchased a brand new, JP7 BFR in Tobacco Sunburst. I am so excited. I am hoping it is all I have read about and learned. Thanks to the forums here I've read. I have never owned a Music Man before so I am psyched and a little worried also. From what I've read, it should be everything and my new favorite axe of all time!!!

Congratulations. That's gonna be one hell of a guitar for your first EBMM! Post some pics when you get it. I'm sure it'll be stunning, so no need to be worried. Did you go for a flame or quilt top?

No reason to be worried....it's the best production 7 string model on the market. You'll probably pick up on this in the first couple minutes.

Great choice! Be sure to post lots of photos when you get the guitar. I love my BFR JP7's and wouldn't play 7 string without one now.

My JP7 BFR is listed on Basscentral's web page now. Its under the JP7's and its the only one (JP7) in Tobacco Burst. Thats my axe and it should be in my hands by next Wednesday!!!! I am hoping it plays and sounds like a dream, never spent so much $$$$ on a guitar before.

Such a bummer !!! My new BFR JP7 went back to the EB home. The Piezo pickup selector switch was bad. It only moved two positions and very loose inside. It would not switch the Piezo out of the mix. Wouldn't switch to magnetic pickups alone. They are fixing it of course, but I'll be without it for about 2 weeks since I'm in Maryland. Dan told me they would go over the entire guitar for me.

I don't see how it left the factory like that. My first MM, a BFR, and lots of money in my opinion. I know things happen though. I still think with that amount of money it should be flawless.

Such is my luck

That is a bummer. I have a similar story, hopefully it will help you feel a little better.

When I received my Amethyst Burst BFR JP7, I found a crack in the body by the neck pocket. It probably happened during shipping and probably wasn't something EBMM was liable for since it wasn't a manufacturing defect. But I called my dealer and EBMM gave them an RMA. Off it went to San Luis Obispo to get a new body. About a month later, it came back, and here is the result:

EBMM will seriously get you taken care of.

Thanks.

I'm sure you'll get your guitar back and it will be in perfect working order. Those crazy cats in San Luis Obispo really know how to treat their customers. Best guitar company I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

you're being a bit harsh, things happen from time to time.

How was he being harsh? He was way more chill about it than I would have been. He's right, that's A LOT of money for a guitar, and a pretty BIG mistake to get past quality control. I would've expected better.
You're trying to make him out to be the bad guy all because he expected his guitar to come to him in perfect working condition? That's really sad and you need to learn that EBMM isn't infallible.
