Well, this is my portion of a songwriting clinic I did last Friday with Andy Timmons. To open the clinic, I played a metal tune I wrote for the clinic with two other teachers. Our "house bass", the Dargie Bongo HH5 was used by of all people, our banjo instructor, because our bassists had gigs out of town that weekend. And he did a good job of it. But the clever part was the shirt that he intentionally wore to create a wicked color contrast between him and the martini green bass. I love it. :p And he admitted after the clinic that it was intentional, heh heh. Good thinking on his part.

The beautiful Dargie!

And one of Andy for good measure. Such a great guy and amazing player.

Andy had a band in Dallas for a while called "Andy Timmons and the Pawn Kings". A friend of mine and a monster on bass, Mike Medina, was his bass player in that project.

Like me, Mike likes cats. He had just purchase a Bengal from a breeder and the breeder had asked him to show the cat for his cattery. Long story short, Andy came out to the cat show and so did I. I got to spend some time chatting with him while we were hanging out. He's a really great guy.

Funny story: I was standing there holding one of the breeder's Bengal kittens. It was a really sweet, beautiful male. I was starting to get attached to it a little when I asked Mike how much a kitten like that would run me. After he said "Oh, about $1500, I put the kitten back in it's cage and didn't touch another one that day.
