So, as I mentioned the other day, I walked into GC and played both JP 12 models (the first time I have ever played an EBMM guitar) and was incredibly impressed. I was planning on ordering a JPXI sometime this month or next month, but my initial reaction to seeing the JP 12s on the wall was "must...play..."
Anyway, I walked out of the store and couldn't get my damn mind off the guitar. I felt like Dorothy without her shiny red slippers. So, I called the sales guy at GC yesterday-- when I called him and told him I wanted it, I thought he was going to ****-- I just decided I must buy that guitar before someone else gets it: JP 12-7.
It's really a stunning guitar. I have to say the combination neck profile, SS frets, ebony board is very sleek. The painted neck is VERY smooth. I honestly don't really notice a difference in feel from the back of this neck and my Ibanez neck, which has no paint; it's very slight if at all. The DiMarzio CL and LF are really great. When I plug this thing into my smaller bedroom set-up which consists of a Line 6 combo and a DS-1 distortion pedal, I still get a sound I can practice with. I spent pretty much all of yesterday playing Bridges in the Sky with this thing otherwise I would have posted this earlier. Anyway, enough talking:
