Off Topic My first "no charge" humanitarian gig!

Hi guys, well Yesterday I played my first "Live Aid" gig in career! :rolleyes:

Last month we had natural disaster in my homeland, just 20-30 kilometers from my home town, it was huge river flooding around and many villages was under the water!

Because of that, it was organised Live Aid humanitarian concert of 12 bands from this region!

All 12, mostly pro and semi-pro, bands were playing for free, so all the money from the entrance and the bar (drink sale) goes for support to people who had a damage!

Most interesting is that 4 bass players (including me) played EBMM basses! :)

So, 1/3 of bands using Music Mans in my region! :p

List of EBMM basses used Yesterday:

- My EBMM Sterling 5 HS (BC burst maple/mH)
- EBMM StingRay 5 H (Honey burst maple/mH)
- EBMM StingRay 5 Hp (Tobacco burst RW/mH)
- EBMM Bongo 4 HS (Black pearl)

P.S. ...there were also two EBMM guitars too, JP HHp from my guitarist and one more Luke HSS! ;)

syci, I was not in the organisation committee, just played with my band to give support! ;)

Unfortunately, my bloody cell phone died (low batt.), so no pics :o ! :rolleyes:

Anyway, overall sound wasn't bad, but monitoring on the stage was awful, it was real "combat" playing with bad stage monitoring! There was no bass amp on the stage, all bassists played direct into the DI box and PA mix-console and than returned sound into the stage monitor speakers! :mad:
But, OK, I was survived! :D

I hope that money goes to the right people! :)

P.S. ...I'm still looking for some photos, especially of one SR5 with most dirty maple fret board I've ever seen! :rolleyes:

Well, they mostly standing near the bar with beers in their hands :D watching chicks dancing! :rolleyes:

But later, after few beers, when get some courage, they dance too! :p

We were second band on the schedule, so this "dancing" pic is early phase of this event, later was whole place full of crowd, like sardines in the can! :D
 
It's like an EBMM festival there!

Just an observation: After I visited the Med I firmly believed that Croatia, Italy and Israel export their ugly women (to Greece apparently)

Question - that's a lot of gear for what appears to be self-run sound, though with 12 Bands I suspect you had house sound (but I see mixer on stage?).

Anyway, just curious how the PA was run...

Well, actually it was a gear of one band which was in organisation of this event, nothing special, but enough for this purpose!

There were no soundman :mad: and You are right, mixer was on the stage behind at the right side, and it was very difficult to personalize sound for each band, drum set was the same for all bands, so as the vocal microphones, all other instruments was connected through DI stage box into the very quality MIDAS Live mixing console!
It was free for any band to slightly check their own setup!

PA speakers were DAP active boxes with active crossover system built in too! Aprox. 6 kW of power, enough for this space! (2nd class, nothing special) :rolleyes:

The worst thing was bad monitoring, there were wireless earphone system for singers and keyboard players, my guitarist brought his amp combo, I was expected bass amp on the stage, but than surprise, no bass amps there :rolleyes: ...than I moved forward near the PA boxes and ...well, it was pretty hard to hear myself, but like I said I survived with pair of low end monitor stage boxes! ;)
