Hey bro's, I landed the big one, I can now officially say that I am in a band. WHOOOOWHHHEEE! Sorry but this is a dream come true. The other two guys are really nice guys (heck just for putting up with me they deserve an award), and we nailed some amazing PROG last night, so the chemistry is spot on. It's an all PROG band, and since I'm playing a seven, it does tend it get a little heavy. Next week we are going to start writing some songs and perhaps record some grooves, so I may have some postable material soon. We're already planning to try and play a gig here and there and since our songs span for ever (20 min.) we really only need to create a few :D
Oh BP, I may be needing that Raz sig guitar sooner than originally planned :D

sage advice

When I was 14 a drummer in a band told me:
"It's more important to be able to get along with the people in the band than it is to be with the best musicians in the world."

Being a punk a$$ 14 I responded, "Bull $h!t"

He was so right. Since I realize my ineptness to get along with people, I accept that I will not be in a band. So I just...... Well, you know.

so damn right, if you like each other you can create really great stuff (even not being great musicians). If you hate each other you can't create anything...

Sometimes it's dissapointing but that's the way it is...

That's all folks :p

I dunno, Philip.. most days I'd like to choke my drummer. But we can still make music together! :)

hmm but on the other hand, you would probably be able to do much more together if you didn't want to kill him ;)

That's funny that you said that, we talked about that last night...see that's the difference between you an I Norm, you can play, but I'm a nice guy :D
No but seriously, I think at the age we're at now, the music and the fun of playing it is more important than ego.

Oh, I don't know about that. We've been playing together on and off (mostly on) in various bands for just about 20 years now! (Holy moly!)

I just get mad at him when he expects me to compose on the spot, while he sits on a couch instead of behind his kit.

We've put up with each other this long, what the hell.. :D

Congrats Raz,

Look at me, I haven't played with a band in over 10 years and I'm gonna offer advice(or maybe some experience observations). The most successfull and rewarding band I was in was with a group of guys who all got along well. We ended up being great friends which made whatever we did enjoyable.

I've also been in bands with guys I hated. Even though I loved playing live, gigs were a drag sometimes.

Remember it's people who make up the band.
