Don't worry, its quite well protected though...Surprise its a Silhouette Special, good thing because I am not sure what I would do with an instrument that didn't require a 9volt! Overall, its in great condition. Two small dings in the finish, not very noticeable though. Main concern is the nut is cracked on the G string, so the G string rattles a little right now, nothing a little TLC won't fix. Whats the best idea to replace the nut, call customer service and get a blank or a new compensated or something, or just have my tech make one? Despite the G string, it sounds great and is super comfy, that neck is so nice feeling. No case, bad nut, but for $620 who am I to argue? Now who here can lend me some skill? :D

The difference in color of rosewood between necks is always interesting...

Love the color, though the guard has too much cream in it for my liking, espescially when compared the white pearl on my Bongos. May have to replace with either a White Ice or tort, but I am open to suggestions.

Nice to see the "Big Brothers" looking out...hehehe....

Yeah, my bongo towers over my other guitars.......my wife, when she bought it did not understand why it was so much bigger (no jokes here please) and I had to explain to her the difference between a bass and a 6 string guitar.

SmallEq,
Nice grab! I may be over on the thick string side in the near future looking for some advice from you guys. Koogie and Beej have me thinking I might have to add a bass to my collection and have no clue where to begin. I'm intrigued by the Bongo's, but there are a couple of beautiful honey burst Sterlings at my local mom and pop store.

Color me clueless when it comes to the bass side of things... but I'm willing to learn.

enjoy the Silo...

Congrats! That's a sweet silo special - love that guitar!

As for the nut, I'd say it's unlikely that you'll be able to get a compensated one. It also would require taking off a bit of wood to fit it in place, etc.

You could probably get another one from EB, or take it to a local tech to have a new one put in. Shouldn't be too big a deal. One last option is to fill the nut and then file it again - you can do this with baking soda / superglue (there's a bit on it in one of the Dan Erlewine books, or Tommy can probably do this with his eyes closed).

Fred- good on ya buddy! Having a bass is a pretty nice addition to the family. (Though, I'm thinking about selling my SR4 to make room for an AL ...)

I played Bass in HS and College in Jazz Band - An old Jazz Bassist I used to go see told me to think of it as a "Drum with Strings" instead of a guitar - that kept me from wanting to shred on it :D . If I still played Bass, the Stingray 4 would be my choice.
