My horror story.

So, I played a show at a club in sunny seattle, Dargie Delight in full glory of course.

After the show we loaded up, and went back in to glad-hand the patrons for a minute then headed home. I got all the way home and discovered that my bass was no longer in the truck. So I commence the freaking out.

I got back to the club and found that some drunk guy had taken it and was walking around showing it off or something and someone recognized it and took it away from him.

It was a heart wrenching time up until I saw the case sitting behind the bar waiting for me.

and dargie delight sr4HH is safely home with me.

You can't trust anyone these days, same as you cannot trust leaving your 6 years old kid running around a shopping mall while you get distracted looking at the shop's windows, there is always some pervert out there preying on them.

Think of your bass as that child from now on, never let it get out of your sight. We live in a sick world.

I would have been livid!

I've been playing professionally for 35 years and I must admit to having "occupational burn-out" in regards to drunken idiots.

I had a custom T-shirt made that says: "I SEE DRUNK PEOPLE" on the front.

I'm glad you retrieved your bass; things could have been much worse!

Oh that is so true! I have been sober for almost 3 years now. And when I play out and see how drunk people get and how stupid they act it makes me wonder if I did the same thing when I drank. I am so glad that I don't drink anymore.

As far as your bass is concerned. I am glad you got it back. I never ever take my eyes my basses at gigs. And when I am loading up my car they are the last thing I put in before I leave the club. There are just too many bad people out there and in these hard times people will steal from you and not even blink an eye about it.

I was at one gig last year and when I was loading out I came out of the club to see some guy and his friend in the back of my SUV's open hatch. When I approached him and his buddy I saw that they were drunk. I asked him what the hell he thought he was doing and his accuse was he was just screwing around. I told him that his screwing around could get his a** kicked. He just laughed it off and went his way. People are unbelievible!

if you're going to be drinking do it within reason...

anyway... glad the bass it back to it's owner... my biggest fear is all of my gear is stolen by some bonehead...

yup,you try to be sober in Ireland.We dont drink at gig's but man when you see so many people messed up everynight I am glad we dont.

saying that when I am off i do enjoy a wee drink myself but i do know when to stop.

I just gigged myself last night in front of many drunken St Patrick’s Day “wanna-be” Irish at a pub near Denver. I debated using my new Big Al because the St Paddy’s Day drunks can really get out of hand (amateurs!). I have used a bass in the past as a self-defense weapon during a nasty bar fight (hey – they don’t call it an axe for nothing). I kept a very close eye on my gear last night for fear that some drunken bozo would walk off with something. I’m so glad your story had a happy ending. I’ve had gear swiped at gigs before and it’s a real bummer.
