Well finally, a couple posts late, here's my proper introduction to the forum, with guitar pics included (if you're here just for the pictures, scroll down and skip the story, I don't mind).

I'm a classically trained musician. I picked up the violin when I was 5, and I've played it ever since. I'm almost 20, so you do the math :p . Right now I'm studying for a degree on violin. When I was 15 I got the bug for electric guitars and stuff and decided I'd start by playing the bass, because it had less strings and no odd 3rd interval in the tunnings. Getting acustomed to the 4ths tuning instead of the 5ths was enough of a shore to venture into even more strings. But even then I ended up getting a cheap 5-stringer.

Three years later, after learning how to play it well on my own, finding out that the bass role in the band was not really made for me and getting tired of a cheap instrument, I started on my quest to get the ultimate guitar. I wanted a production guitar, with good bang-to-buck ratio, but with top-notch quality, I was going to buy in on USA and bring it home on a family trip, so I should be able to maintain it and it should be perfectly set up from the store. I also knew that I wanted variety in tones, and good tones. At the time felt like single coils were my thing sound wise, but I knew the virtues of a humbucker for a distorted sound. Also I wanted more of a vintage neck, not those flat horrible Ib*nez things.

After hours lost in the internet reading reviews of dozens of different models, I settled on a MM Silo. I did not try any other guitar, I went into the store that had the only single Silo in stock in all Florida, asked for it, played it for 5 minutes, and I knew everything I had to. 10 minutes later I walked out with my first electric guitar, and I would certainly not complain if it also were my last.

After all that chatter, here's my baby. I did not have a chance to choose the options but I'm still lucky I got an outrageous looking one with tons of attitude.

Welcome - nice guitar

Just curious - have you ever played with Gustavo Dudamel. I recently saw a television report on him and he seems to be a very interesting guy and very committed to the youth orchestras in Venezuela.

Love black, tort and rosewood. Nice!

Btw, if you don't receive a DOB here, you might consider a separate thread.

No, I haven't had the honor, I don't play in symphonic orchestra anymore, just chamber orchestra, and we play without conductor. But I've seen him numerous times, and he even conducted the orchestra of the high-school where I studied violin and graduated from. I saw one of the rehearsals for that concert and the guy is super nice as a person, not to mention talented as hell. He's been signed as the principal director of the LA Philharmonic and he's not even 30 yet. He still conducts the Simon Bolivar national youth symphonic here, which I technically could join whenever I wanted, I'm just not interested in being one of 50 violins of a 200 people ensemble. I like to keep things small and personal, like a 20 piece chamber orchestra, a trio, or a 5 piece rock band

Nice. Your Silo is the same color scheme as my Stingray.

Yes I saw it somewhere, killer combo ;).

My next EBMM purchase would be a bass to replace my cheap 5-string, I still play it a lot although just on my own. A black/tortoise SR5 would be killer and look awesome next to it's smaller sister :D but that 6-string Bongo is really tempting. Higher register to make song writing easier (I dunno why but I use the bass better for composing than the guitar). In any case I can't get that amount of USD right now :(

Quick on the draw they be.

I couldn't agree more, and was thinking the same thing. Not only about this place but having a company's service so available after the sale. It's hard not to name names and make comparisons, but I'd only be preaching to the choir anyway.
