Hey, im posting this for a friend whom I sold my first ray to... a 5 string hh. 2005 model. anyways he moves like hell on stage and its really hot and humid in the places we usually play. We're also going to phoenix and north mexico in august. Thats gonna take a toll on the instrument.

What Im thinking is this. I told him, lets get a good replacement neck to shred live with, and then use the EB one to record. Have any of you done this before, if so thoughts comments... I know EB doesnt sell replacements, but what would be your best recommendations...

I know moses makes some high end expensive necks, but Id like to see what my options are...

I traveled all over the US for about 5 years and my MusicMan basses held up just fine.

Unless your friend is abusing his bass, he will be okay.

BP's take on such matters: "play it - if it breaks, glue it"
My take on such matters: "you can always buy a new one"

I was honestly worried to take a StingRay with me on our 3 week tour to the Philippines (hot, humid, several flights, shipping on ferries), but the neck of the 2006 SR4 HS I took with me is just as fine as before -- as opposed to the case which has some new fancy cracks due to "careful" handling of obviously "fragile" goods at airports...

Honestly, given how expensive replacement necks are (also count in the tuners you don't want to swap those around every time), how much a professional first fit of the new neck costs (you don't want to drill the wholes at the wrong position, do you?) and how often you want to swap necks (me: never), I think a second (used) SR5 or SUB5 for stage abuse does not look that expensive anymore.
