Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, but if any of you guys here are regulars on talkbass, I'm on there as fenderbassabuse.
Today, I went to the bass gallery in london to try out what is now my new stingray. All the info I could get from them was is that is mid 80's,2 band eq, stripped finish and a rosewood board. It also has a clear pickguard.
Being the type of person that I am, I wanted to know exactly what year the bass is. I managed to find a database for musicman basses, and as the s/n begins as BO23 and ends in 18, has musicman stamped tuners and bridge (with mutes), I looked at the headstocks and found one with the same logo as mine, but is BO22041 which dates it as mid june, 1985. Would this mean mine is an 85? Or is it an 86? Are there any ways to find out for certain about its age?
Apologys if this has been covered many a time.
Many Thanks
